The Extra Credit Wrap Top is a new take on a longtime Charm favorite, Butterick 6285/Simplicity 9288, now available in our updated size range and with A–H cup sizes.

This V-neck wrap knit top has a unique wrap construction and is fully lined. Plus, it comes in two length options! The hip-length top is great for tucking into skirts or wearing over another garment, while the cropped-length top ends at the natural waist—a perfect length if you would like the challenge of adding a self-drafted skirt to create a wrap dress.

We’ve also included two sleeve-length options. And with the full lining, you could also make the top reversible. So many different variations, all from one easy knit pattern!

You'll find the tiled file (for printing at home on A4 or letter size sheets and taping together) and the A0 file (for printing at a copy shop like ThePlottedPattern.com or PDFPlotting.com). Please note that we have two size blocks, so make sure to download the correct files for the size you're making. If you have any questions about which size to sew, don't forget to read our blog post with all the details!

Don’t forget to watch the companion tutorial video and then share your makes with the hashtags #charmpatterns and #extracredittop!

xoxo,
Gertie

P.S. Want to make a wrap dress? Instructions are included for advanced students to draft your own! Or just wait for February 15, when Glamour Circle+ patrons will get the Extra Credit Wrap Skirt expansion as their bonus pattern. 😘

Any input on how it would affect the garment if I made it without a lining? I have a gauze that I was thinking of for this but part of the reason I picked it up was the feel of the fabric against skin. Also I was thinking of keeping it light for a summer option. But I don't want to use it if the lining is necessary for structure/finishing.

Sewed this up in a leopard print rayon jersey and it is super cute! Still found it a little short, though. Maybe I am just freakishly long-waisted 😄
