The Katrina Sleeve & Katrina Waspie Belt (Patreon)

Happy Halloween Extravaganza!

For day two of our 13 days of Halloween celebrations this year, I’m excited to share the Katrina Sleeve and Katrina Waspie Belt patterns with you, as seen in the Fall 2023 issue of Vintage by Gertie magazine. 

This dress was inspired by one of the outfits worn by Christina Ricci as Katrina Crane (in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow). I started with the Carousel Dress, did some pattern hacking, added a sleeve, created the bustle, and layered on the Katrina-hacked Waspie Belt. While it’s perfect for recreating this costume confection, the Katrina Sleeve is actually a set-in sleeve pattern expansion for the Carousel Dress. I designed this sleeve in a three-quarter length and long sleeve version so you can take our summery Carousel Dress into the cooler months. This is so much more than just a Halloween pattern!

The Katrina Waspie Belt is constructed exactly like the original Waspie Corset Belt, but has more dramatic style lines. I love how it comes to that pointy-point at center front, creating a Basque-waistline look.
