Our last guest artist of the year, Amanda from Modern June Cleaver, has created a charming and versatile holiday skirt for you! Using vintage embellishment methods, you can create your own Christmas tree skirt (like Amanda) or wearable circle skirt (like me). I know you’ll love learning about these felt applique techniques!

In this post, you'll find the instructions and the pattern templates (both PDF and SVG files) so you can start embellishing your holiday skirt.

Amanda from Modern June Cleaver has such a unique and delightful style, and she's one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram. This has been such a fun collaboration, and I'm so excited to see what you all make from these ornament templates!

Amanda made her Christmas tree skirt using the free Charm Circle Skirt and a vintage-inspired color palette, with lots of gold fringe. We sewed my version as a wearable circle skirt (using the Stanwyck Skirt pattern) in traditional Christmas colors with a little extra pink.

We've included PDF files for both making your appliqués by hand, as well as SVG files for using a Cricut or Silhouette die-cutting machine. (I love my Cricut!) For the SVG files, you'll find a zipped folder that contains the following: 1) a file with all shapes included once, 2) additional files with the decorations and bulb toppers repeated several times for ease of printing, and 3) a sub-folder with all shapes in their own individual files. This will give you some flexibility as you're laying out the shapes in your die-cutting software.

Thank you so much to Amanda for working with us on this project. We all hope you love this guest artist design! Don't forget to share your finished creations with the hashtags #charmpatterns and #modernjunecleaver.

xoxo,
Gertie

Hi there charm sisters! I'm sewing the original charm scout skirt but couldn't find a chat specifically for that one here in the patreon. A beginner here finished my pattern, win! Now I am little confused by the diagram on cutting out the fabric from my pattern pieces. Two questions: 1. Should the fabric be folded with the right sides together exposing the wrong sides out and pinning the pattern pieces there? 2. It says for the skirt back (pattern piece number 2) according to the diagram/key it should be the "wrong side of the pattern piece". Does that mean that I flip the pattern backwards and lay it on the fabric? Thanks for any tips 🙏

Amy Lou

I love her so much!🫶🏻
