Hey Artists, it’s time for another guest-designed pattern! I am beyond excited to finally reveal this pattern that I teased at the end of the Carousel Dress video: a mix-and-match collection to expand the Carousel Dress! The SewRena Collection includes a sleeve option with removable cuffs, a collar, and a dickey.

This vintage-chic collection was designed by Serena, a vintage pattern and sewing machine collector. She sets out to represent Black American beauty and fashion from the 1940s-60s. Follow her on Instagram (@sewrena_) to see her stunning interpretations of vintage fashion. It’s so fun working with guest artists to design for the Charm community, and this month has been no exception! I love how Serena was inspired by vintage accessory patterns to make something stunning for Charm.

Wondering about fabrics and supplies? Check out the written instructions at the bottom of this post for links and recommendations. You'll also find the tiled file (for printing at home on A4 or letter size sheets and taping together) and the A0 file (for printing at a copy shop like pdfplotting.com). Please note that we now have two size blocks, so make sure to download the correct files for the size you're making. If you have any questions about the new range, don't forget to read our blog post with all the details!

Thank you so much to Serena for creating this lovely expansion for us. We hope you love this project! Don’t forget to share your finished creations with the hashtag #sewrenacollection.

Xoxo,

Gertie

P.S. As a reminder, please do not share these photos or patterns to other social media sites so that we can keep creating exclusive new content for you!

Could this removable cuff and collar pattern line up with the night and day dress? I made one a year or two ago with the round neck but chose the wrong fabric for the neck/arm cuffs (it just won't iron) . Thought it might be easier to make a removable piece than re do the whole dress.
