UPDATE 4/7/22: Hi patrons! As several of you have noted, there was an error with the page order in the 2-20 tiled pattern file, which meant that the Pattern Piece Location Guide was incorrect. We have now updated the 2-20 tiled file only so that it corresponds correctly to the guide, and we have also uploaded an Errata page to help you if you have already printed the pattern. (So no need to reprint the pattern if you've already done so--just consult the Errata page for the location guide!) Please let us know if you have any questions, and so sorry for any inconvenience the error may have caused. xo, Gertie

Meet Midge! This is a classic Breton top with lots of options, and it’s sure to give your everyday wardrobe a boost. These mariner-style striped tops scream chic French fashion, while also having a bohemian twist (think of James Dean, Jean Seberg, and even Kurt Cobain looking effortlessly cool in their Breton tops). This counterculture vibe makes the Breton perfect for our Charm Artist Collective theme this year, but I also adore the polished retro sweetness of a striped knit shirt. Just see how Midge styled hers on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel—she was the inspiration for our name as well as for the three-quarter sleeve with tabbed cuff.

The best part is that the Midge Breton is the perfect mix-and-match separate, effortlessly mingling with jeans, circle skirts, cigarette pants, high-waist shorts, and more. I could see it with pretty much any separate from the Charm collection: Marilyn Jeans, Loretta Shorts, Audrey Cigarette Pants, the Stanwyck Skirt, Lucille Trousers, I could go on and on!

And don't forget to try all the different variations! We’ve given you three length options and four sleeve options to make this a wardrobe classic you’ll sew again and again.

Check out our video for the #MidgeBretonTop in the next post!

And don't forget this is a fit clinic month for those in the bonus tiers! Stay tuned for a new fitting video in just a couple weeks.

xoxo,

Gertie

This top is amazing! It’s the first Charm pattern I’ve made multiple times in the same month it was released! Is anyone familiar with large bicep adjustments on these types of sleeves? I like how casual and roomy they are on Gertie, but feel more fitted on me.
