Hello, artists! I’m so excited to bring you our very first Charm Artist Collective guest design! Meet the Charlotte Beret, the ultimate vintage beret with a gorgeous veil option. Designed by the incredible Charlotte Dymock (you may know her as @tuppencehapenny on Instagram), it’s just the thing to round out your handmade wardrobe. I’m such an admirer of Charlotte's millinery tutorials, and knew she would come up with something perfect for the Charm Artist Collective.

I just love how versatile and quick this pattern is. Opt for a velvet for a structured beret, or pick boiled wool for a softer look. The Charlotte Beret is a great beginner project, with minimal pattern pieces and easy sewing. I know this pattern will satisfy advanced sewists too, since you can really take it to the next level with veiling and embellishments. It’s a fabulous stash buster, so you can sew one to match every outfit. Once you start, though, it’s hard to stop – we’ve made almost a dozen in the Charm studio (We loved how they looked at the Joan Wiggle Dress Shoot!).

The Charlotte Beret pattern is available in three hat sizes (S, M, and L) so you can get your perfect fit. You’ll find the pattern and instructions at the bottom of this post – we can’t wait to see your takes on the design!

Xoxo,

Gertie
