1000% i was like wtf lol and i read the whole manga for solo. I think most that voted hadn't even tried frieren because they think it's a slice of life laid back anime

Old man voll gave me straight up Vinland vibes man. And I still haven't decided if I'm doing frieren Manga yet just because the anime is perfection. The sounds tracks alone impact scenes on a different level man.. you won't get that from reading it.

Nope, no isekai at all. The series is set in a fantasy world (with no one reincarnating or travelling to it) where the main villain/threat has been dealt with and the main character (Frieren) is an elf whose perception of time is skewed by her races nature to live longer than most other races. Without spoiling much it explores her journey north to visit a specific place (detailed earlier in the show) while learning more about humanity, herself and those she's travelling with. It's a heartfelt story with amazing character development, that while it has tones of slice of life is anything but, since every episode feeds into an overarching journey/story and gets referenced or built upon in following episodes/chapters. There is action but it's much more limited, instead focusing on the story, characters and world. It's definitely a breath of fresh air in the general modern anime sphere and creates a unique spin on a JRPG-esque world "beyond the final boss".
