Even though this series is probably gonna be a flop, it might motivate people to start the manga / anime because they will still be interested in the concept of the story. They won't like the Netflix TV show but this will convince them to move to the manga or anime, "this show is bad but it has a better source material? I might check it out"

I know how you feel. But he's also a father, which I feel is super important and fulfilling I'm sure. And with his successful comics, he's been able to travel the world. I mean, when you look at the beginning of the chapters, in Oda's notes, he's always talking about the things he gets to do, like concerts, traveling for the live action, etc

It’s just live action never works for anime. Even Rurouni Kenshin was messed up and that’s straight up a samurai story. Something as goofy as One Piece definitely won’t work. But hopefully with Oda helping with production it will at least be watchable. Even the show just being decent would be a massive improvement or some of the live action adaptations out there.

It’s better to be cautiously optimistic than overly pessimistic. I have hope for this live action because I really want it to succeed. There’s no benefit for me to trash a show that doesn’t even have a trailer yet. One piece fans SHOULD want the best for this show, even though anime live actions have a poor track record.

I can get the sentiment but I think everyone knows how its going to go. As an avid fan of the wheel of time series, it was an abomination what Amazon did to it, and I would rather not have that associated with one of the greatest series of all time. Just like this, I don't want this sure disaster to tarnish Oda's legacy in any way.
