Is it tho? I think the plot armor is less than other shounen. Ichigo almost died battling renji and now he almost died battling the captain, where he didn't even really win. You have to remember that he's already blessed with immense spiritual pressure. If it was a typical shounen he would've beat kenpachi still standing but he's on the verge of death again
