We should read the cover manga stories, there's a lot of history missing in the anime. But the chapters themselves... Man toei is doing great

Chaos

The thing is between anime and manga is that the anime is just there to enhance the manga. Oda gets 1 week to work on a chapter while toei gets a few weeks to sometimes months to work on an episode. So it just makes sense for them to expand and make certain scenes of the manga better. Oda would never be able to fit in things such as those full on transformations at the start of the episode while only having around 17 pages to work with in a week. So while the anime is great as a first time watch, the manga gets us through the story a lot faster which is what most of us care about in one piece. It is nice as a manga reader to go back and watch the scenes enhanced whenever it gets animated though, assuming toei is putting in the money and effort like in this episode and 1015
