There's just no way one can justify adding filler to probably one piece hypest ever moment. Actually Quite ridiculous!!!

I would recommend sticking with the anime for now. Not every anime episode will be to the level of the manga but the majority of upcoming episodes are gonna be amazing in the anime. Also I love seeing you read the manga chapter after watching the episode!

technically sanji scene was an anime-canon scene...that is they don't exist in manga, but in anime, they exist as filler scene that serve to build-up what's coming now, like you and many others, I also did not enjoy sanji scene, because when roof-piece is happening, you can't give us this bs but they don't have any choice in this...one piece is weekly anime...that means, not every week, they'll be able to pump up good quality episodes...they have to prioritize certain weeks/episodes like episode 1015 and 1017...so they decided to save the budget/animators for episode 1017 and milk this episode also, the manga currently moving at lightning speed pace, meaning there are tons of things oda don't draw on the pages or decide to off-screen a lot of things...he does this to get the manga moving + to have the anime fill-in these scenes + he wants to end the manga in 5 years, so he's speeding things up so I would rather have stupid sanji scenes instead of fighting scenes that are animated poorly...actually the sanji scene wasn't that bad...they gave some insightful scene like when Black Maria says you'll ditch women for your dreams or if u wanna escape, it's really easy: just go and kick me which we all know sanji won't do or her saying how sanji managed to come this far with his ideology of not hurting women at any circumstances and that must be due to his friends....all of this I believe wasn't in the manga but it helps building up the story...i would say it was just unfortunate to be put beside roof-piece and I already said how they're saving budget for top-quality fights

yeah I get that it has to be in the anime for filler but I dont know why it had to be in the middle of the episode though. they could have put it at the end of the episode or at the start and it would make the flow of the episode better
