"Quick" update: Violet's Album release delayed by a day (Patreon)
Content
Hey!
Today was supposed to be the early access release of Violet's album but the last couple of pics that I rendered tonight came out faulty (grainy).
Meaning I have to re-render the last couple of pics which will take another night to complete. So the release will be delayed by a day. New release schedule is as follows:
- Early Access Release: 8th of May
- Follower/Supporter Release: 12th of May
- Founder Release: 15th of May
In case you're interested in the details:
When you render in DAZ using the IRAY engine, it's normal that pictures which didn't render long enough come out grainy. That's why they have a built in denoiser doing a pretty good job getting rid of that grain and restoring detail with some AI magic.
So when that option is enabled but renders still come out grainy, it means that denoiser didn't kick in which usually happens when the GPU's VRAM get's overloaded with textures or when there are too many objects with a high sub-division count are in the scene which was happening a lot in this album but with some optimization I got rid of most of the issues I had.
I looked into it and found out that the cum asset I added in the end was the last straw to overload my GPU preventing the denoiser to kick in so I made some adjustments and the denoiser kicks in again, but I'll of course have to render the images out again over night, delaying the whole thing.
I know that there are third party denoisers out there, but they don't work properly with the grain that you get from IRAY renders as these denoisers are made to get rid of real low-light camera grain, which looks different than the grain you get from IRAY renders. (I tried it with several programs)
I've also had several people ask before why I don't consider cloud rendering which would be faster. While yes, the renders would be faster, the amount of extra work it'd cost me to export, potentially convert and also upload all the assets I use into a third party cloud-based renderer would slow down my workflow more than it'd be worth the trouble. Besides, I try to be as independent as possible with this project so I rather have my own set-up that I can upgrade over time.
