I've never really delved much into the mystery genre before, and while this isn't exactly that, it's proving an interesting challenge trying to decide how fast and how to advance the narrative and drop clues. I feel in part like it may be too fast, but then, I also have a lot of other stories competing for my attention. Likewise, as I often feel when I'm DMing, I wonder if the clues and hooks that seem so obvious to me will be to my players, too. If you have thoughts, feel free to share - I'm genuinely curious. As a fellow dm/gm I know what you mean. As for people figuring out your twists and plot it's part of the fun. If they figure it out don't tell them and when you officially reveal it it's a great feeling on the player's part. Something to that effect happened on the campaign I'm running now. One of my players got part of the reveal right from the hints I've dropped. I've noticed that as long as you're not saying it outright players either don't figure it out or if they do it's appreciated.
