Yes, us nurses don't like using our patients as pin cushions, unless.......😉. I have to have butterfly needles because of my veins. And, they're smaller and the gauge of the needle is much smaller than standard catheter needles.

I have very tiny veins as well. I have to have my blood drawn every 3-4 months since I am diabetic. I hate having my blood drawn, but they use the butterfly ones since those are the only ones that work. My blood still takes a bit to fill up the vials, but it works. I feel for you... My low blood sugars sound almost like you described when you pass out..... I cry and get mean at the same time when I have a low blood sugars. I hope that when you have blood drawn again, they let JD be by your side. I know when I went to the ER for a severe low, they let my boyfriend be by my side for the IV. They need to let JD be by your side though... Glad you are doing well :)
