Well Spoke-in (Patreon)

This shoot was so much fun, but was also incredibly stressful for me and I’ll tell you why. About half of you are going to understand how it was hard and the other half are going to be able to relate!

I can’t remember why we had flown to Amarillo for this trip, but I’m guessing it was just to see family. Might have been for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I went straight from the airport to Alan’s studio to get started on hair and makeup for the shoot. My friend Kim, who really got my makeup career started, was dolling me up and I was really excited to work with both her and Alan. There was just one big problem ... actually two!

1) My suitcase didn’t make it onto my flight.

This almost never happens to me, but of course the time that I have a shoot booked the day I land it would happen.

2) I started my period early.

Normally, that wouldn’t be too much of an issue, but it just so happens to be on a day where I had to wear all white, from head to toe. The leggings were also very thin, so I couldn’t exactly layer underwear The way I normally would just in case there was a leak.

There were no mishaps and I don’t think anybody knew aside from Kim because I told her to help keep an eye on things. Although periods are normal and we were all adults, it’s still not something that you want to deal with, so I was pretty on edge most of the night. Despite feeling a little worried, I’m really really happy with how the photos came out! I hadn’t really shot anything like that in quite a while and even when I was doing more fitness type continent, it wasn’t this well thought out in advance and I really enjoyed that Alan had a whole concept in mind. 🤍
