So, I am an older guy and I have had a couple of people say I need a discord.  From what I can tell from being a member of the Hypnopics Moderator Discord, it's a place people can chat or talk with microphones.  Do I need one of these?  How would it benefit me?  My concern is that, since I have a 100% one track mind, I would be chatting on the Discord all the time, possibly answering the same questions multiple times, and not single-mindedly focusing on actually working.

What are the thoughts of my investors?  Any advice or suggestions on this subject?

A discord server will be nice. But if it's more of a hindrance than a help then it kind of defeats itself.

That's my biggest concern. I also could picture someone popping in and asking me something, "Hey, Anax, in the game can we do THIS?" And I spend 20 minutes explaining how it will work and just as I finished, someone else pops into Discord, "Hey, Anax! Can we do THIS SAME THING in the game?" And I have to explain all over again lol Right now I spend several hours every week or two posting updates around the internet so many people can all find out the latest info and see some promotional material, without me having to go over it every day or even several times a day. I just don't know. lol

well as someone who uses discord, you could set a time to answer questions and what not everyday and mute the server when you're otherwise busy, a discord would also make your updates more centralised you can tell everyone where they can get the latest info (your discord) and not have to post it everywhere. There are pros and cons to both sides to be frank.

I use discord all the time but it’s mostly just my close friends and family for gaming. It’s a real neat for gaming though

Honestly, given your intense focus on work, as well as your regular updates on here, I'm not sure it's needed, unless you wanted to have a chatroom where people into your work could chat and spitball ideas.

Discord is a good place for fans of your work to interact, and discuss mutual interests! You don't have to use a microphone, as most discords I'm a part of usually stick to text.

You can also have a channel on that discord only for pics that might be good inspirations! A crowdsourced collection of hot squicky images to enjoy and pull from for inspiration?

I've given thought to suggesting this before. I'm in my late twenties, and haven't used Discord heavily as a chatroom. Instead, it has been as a voice chat server. That being said, I know people that do rpg's through Discord, and it acts as a hub for the community for other groups. If you decide to do it, set just a day or two a week where you come in and discuss things. You could setup a couple of rooms for discussions from your community, akin to a forum. We sort of have that from the Hypnopics community, but this would be a more direct interaction with your particular fans. Maybe get a couple of admins of people who know their way around the system that you trust, and they can spearhead any questions or talks. This may be poll worthy, just to see the sort of response you would get.

I have been, for some time, considering making a website for myself and my fans with a Wiki that I would build as well for all my lore. Would that be better?

As your universe available to the public expands, that could help keep people in the know and remember details. There are things from S&B I don't totally remember. In general, you're good with communicating with us. I think fan communication can be healthy too. If you can do that with a website, then great. Discord is a way to do it very cheap though.

In my opinion picarto tv was fine for me. Just tweet when you're rendering and we can B.S. while you do that. The sound of everyone with a microphone talking at the same time do not appeal to me.

I personally would love a discord, at the very least to chat with other fans of your work.

Discord isn't just just voice chat. It can essentially also work as a chat room for anyone in it.
