So, this month my numbers have not drastically moved around because people are not patroning me, then falling off at the end of the month.  And those that would hop in, make a fake donation, and then after getting something, un-patron have been unable to escape.  So, I can say that this way of doing it has been successful!  Thank you, Patreon for finally giving me this!

What a dumbass... but we kinda figured someone would try that on you.

honestly, i'm surprised it's not a lot more than 1.

Well, there were plenty doing it over time. In fact in the three or so years I have been here, probably dozens or even a hundred have done it. This is my testing month. Cere Ch1 already exists, just not in the 'all CGI' version that it will become. So, I wanted to see how this new way is working- you know, without me having to email everyone, and it has seemed to work very well. It has made things much more stable for me, so I can plan my budget around my Patreon. (Remember, I have to buy music, models, and so forth- which reminds me I need to buy music rights from another musician this month!)

Thanks for the compliment! In the past it was, but now that they get charged instantly, I think most have decided to just wait for the free release instead of trying to steal updates. I am still waiting to see how it goes until July 1st.

I don't understand why patreon didn't have the option to all creators at the same time. I understand a first round of testing with a small group, but then I would have expected blanket allow for all the remaining creators. But patreon has a weird relation to their creators from what I have heard:)

Patreon is a US based company and has to abide by US laws, nothing really strange about them having a weird relation with the creators. If they don't want to get shutdown in a second, they gotta prevent child pornography, image rights violation and ofc IP theft on their platform. At any rate, as long as a creator puts out at least an update a month, they deserve the support. But if they don't for whatever reasons then "charge upfront" becomes a lot better for their patrons, as they get the option to wait and see what's going to happen without paying each month.

From what I can tell they wait until the are sure the creator is not trying to defraud the investors. Somehow, I slipped through the cracks but I contacted repeatedly and I guess I finally passed their guidelines. I also think there is a trigger based on donations. Around a thousand a month.

:/ that's kind of silly not to already have. I would rather pay a straight up fee and get content immediately than have it locked behind a monthly wait.
