February wrap-up! ROOMS (Patreon)

Hi guuys! I know I JUST uploaded our POBOX video (so sorry for the spam btw) but I really wanted to share the results and progress (yours and mine) for our February challenge. For this month I wanted us to focus on ROOMS, aka. backgrounds, aka. my nightmare. 

~ Hola mis neeerds! Yo sé que ACABO de subir un videín de POBOX (perdón por el spam) pero realmente quería compartir con ustedes los resultados y progresos (de ustedes y mío) para el reto de Febrero del Club de Ilustración. Para este mes quise que nos enfocáramos en PIEZAS, aka. fondos aka. mi pesadilla.

I noticed two things: 1. I don't mind when perspective or lines aren't mega perfect! Back in the old days I really looked for proportion ("is the clock right here or is it one millimeter down?" "how can I draw this picture EXACTLY like this picture?") but with time and specially after this challenge I noticed that my crooked lines and my drawing quirks (not realistic perspective, weird angles, adding/taking details) gives the illustration not only my "stamp" (aka. style) BUT it makes it more interesting, give it character!

Me di cuenta de dos cosas: 1. Ya no me molesta cuando la perspectiva o las lineas no son mega perfectas! Antes siempre buscaba dibujar proporcionado ("este reloj va aquí o va un milimetro más abajo?" "cómo puedo dibujar esta foto EXACTAMENTE como esta la foto?") pero con el tiempo y especialmente después de este reto me di cuenta que mis lineas chuecas y mis peculiaridades ilustrísticas (perspectiva poco realista, ángulos raros, quitar/agregar detalles) entrega a la ilustración no sólo mi "timbre" (es decir, estilo) PERO la hace más interesante, le da carácter!

2. Drawing from pictures it's hard but it's doable. I wonder though: what should I do when I start drawing Enrinyes and I have to come up with made-up rooms/scenery? I know some illustrators take real rooms or landscape as reference (mainly perspective and proportion) and then they add or take stuff. I'm going to try this technique and report back!

~ 2. Dibujar fotos es difícil pero es realizable. Me pregunto en todo caso: qué debería hacer cuando empiece a dibujar Enrinyes y tenga que inventar piezas/paisajes inventados? Yo sé que algunos ilustradores toman piezas o escenarios reales como referencia (principalmente por la perspectiva y proporción) y luego ellos mismos agregan o quitan cosas a gusto. Voy a probar esta técnica y les diré cómo me va! 

I'm SO HAPPY we did this challenge guys! I'm in no way an expert on rooms yet BUT at least it's not a huge question mark in my life anymore, so it's less scary!

Estoy TAN FELIZ de haber hecho este reto nerds! No soy una experta ni por si acaso PERO al menos ya no es un gran signo de interrogación, y eso lo hace menos tenebroso!
