God of What?

Chapter 21

-VB-

Victor

Life was not fair, and he understood that perfectly. After all, the original never imagined that he would ever wake up as a clone of himself with the full knowledge that the clone existed solely to be a victim.

It was something that the original would have turned away from on principle … but then again, the original was no longer the same original as the one who left home.

This was something that he and “Yor” agreed upon. Just as the original was able to affect the world, so too did the world and the title - not the power but the title and whatever bullshit that came along with - affected the original. He was becoming more “god-like” than he liked to think.

God-like as in local gods, not “Big G” God.

… Not that such a particular scenario would be a bad thing.

And whatever change affected Yor also affected him, Victor.

See, he started out with just another carbon copy cloned mind of the original.

Now?

Now …

It was hard to not stoop forward. It was hard to meet people in the eyes. It was hard to stand up for himself.

He had become a victim as his intended purpose had been, but it wasn’t through acting but through a change that Victor and the rest of the Hive Mind did not expect. After all, all “punishments” he got were acts. He never truly got hurt. He never felt pain.

Yet he began to act like a victim. Began to skulk like someone who wanted to hide.

Horrible, no?

“Yes,” Yor hummed from across the table.

Today was one of the rarer days when al of the members of the Hive got together in broad daylight without anyone else in the familia and Hestia and her familia interfering in their talks.

Yes, they could all talk via telepathy.

No, it did not feel the same as actually being there to talk with each other. It was kind of like the difference between a phone call, a Zoom call, and an actual face-to-face meeting. There were feelings, essences, and auras that just didn’t transfer you weren’t there.

The original just hummed. “Personally, I don’t think it’s that important.”

Victor glared at him. “I am literally acting like a red-headed stepchild right now. How is that not important?”

“It is relevant but not important. After all, we can always change you back to something closer to normal once your ‘role’ is complete, and the change should also apply that way, right?”

Yor grunted. “Assuming it happens constantly in the now, yes.”

He sighed. “Doesn’t mean I have to like it,” he mumbled.

The original shrugged. “I’m more interested in when the canon is supposed to happen. We did seriously derail it, yes, but it should be starting more or less soon, right?”

“It is,” Yor spoke up. “This year’s Monsterphilia should be around the corner.”

“Are we going to do something about it?” Victor spoke up after needing to gather up the courage. “I mean… people are going to die.”

Both Yor and the original looked at him, and he shrunk into his chair.

And the original grinned.

Since when do we care about others?

Hestia? Bell?

Well, Hesita’s mine, so I care about her. And Yor is definitely gonna fuck Bell someday. Hopefully.

Oi.

Not my fault you’re so goddamn slow. Just ask her out, give her a wonderful day, and make her scream at night.

Did we actually think like that before we came here?

No.
No.

Victor … knew that this was going to be trouble, sooner or later. He glanced at Yor, who met his eyes. Yeah, Yor already knew this was trouble.

Both of them looked at the original who was talking to himself about how interesting it was all going to be.

Were they always this clueless or was this another change forced on them?

Freya

… To think that someone would actually corrupt Hestia.

The violation was not something most gods would have felt except those in tune with the more esoteric sides of their arcana, which Freya was. Ouranos probably felt it, too, but he also probably didn’t care about such “tiny and irrelevant” details.

She knew that the perpetrator had to be that new god, but she was wary of sending her children to teach him a lesson. It was one thing for their children to lay their hands on each other. It was another when the gods and goddesses were involved. That crossed a line that only the likes of the Evilus crossed.

Not even Ishtar would coerce another god into joining her brothels, no matter how much prestige and wealth that would bring.

So how could she go about making him pay for soiling such a pure goddess?

Well, he had children, didn’t he? If their captain were to suffer an accident in the dungeon…
