Insistent Assistant

Chapter 4

-VB-

Sufficed to say, everyone still alive at that point in time all submitted to us (read: Thorkell) after TK’s rather excruciating show of violence and dominance.

Wait, did I say violence and dominance?

I’m sorry.

I meant his legally protected way of persuasion, because, technically speaking, it really was legally protected. After all, in the One Piece universe, pirates are scum, have no legal protection, and are literally thrown into a torture-chamber-turned-prison.

Thorkell and me killing pirates? Oh yeah, completely legal.

Hell, Thorkell onboard while I went back to collect the deceased captain’s head so we could collect some money from his bounty. Assuming we didn’t run into a corrupt marine.

“So what island are we heading to?” I asked the helmsman.

The gruff young(?) woman glanced at me from the corner of her eyes before looking forward again.

“Ilisia Kingdom, captain,” she replied. “It’s at least a week’s worth of sailing, two weeks if the wind doesn’t agree with us.”

I nodded along. I knew so far that we were in West Blue, which was middling in all things as far as the Four Oceans went. It was neither safe nor dangerous, neither rich nor poor, and neither useless nor important. It simply was.

It was a blessing for me. Had I been dropped into South Blue, then I would have higher chance of encountering people stronger than Thorkell and myself.

From what I remembered about the Four Blues, East was the safest and weakest while the South was the strongest, most dangerous, and most volatile. I didn’t quite understand why the East was safe. Sure, Garp was from there, but the man wasn’t in East Blue for most of the time and he wasn’t even an active patrolling vice-admiral. His presence alone could not explain why the East was safe. The South’s danger came from the activities of the Revolutionary Army, so that made sense.

This left the North and West Blues … which were normal?

“And what is Ilsia Kingdom like?” I asked her.

“It’s a place filled with weaklings,” she grunted. “The weaklings do nothing but wail at their big hats to do something about everything while giving them money.”

“Sounds like regular society,” I hummed, and she actually chuckled. “I have nothing against it. It’s not like everyone can be strong.”

She snorted. “Ya get that right. So you’re the big guy’s fuck toy?”

I blinked and turned to look at her.

“Wut?”

“I mean, shit, I get it. Life’s tough.”

“No, I don’t think you understan-.”

“Shit happened, I know, I know. That’s why I’m here. Why all of us are here.”

“No, I think you are seriously mistaken about the situation. I’m the one in charge of him.”

She looked at me quizzically. “Umm, isn’t that how shit is? It’s useless the little guy who has to take care of the big guy or the big guy goes a little too crazy. I get it. My captain was like that and I keep him in line. Well, I kept, I guess.”

“... Were you…?”

“The captain took what he wants.”

Well, this conversation just turned fucking depressing.

“Seriously, I’m not fucking him, getting fucked by him, or anything like that. We’re friends.”

This time, she looked at me like I was crazy.

“Friends? Out in the seas?” she snorted. “You’re one of those, aren’t you?”

“... You make it sound like I’m a sexual deviant.”

“Well, you already said you aren’t. No, you’re one of those adventurous types. The weird types who think sailing the high seas is fun and glory.”

This time, I snorted. “Yeah, no. Sailing is a rough life at best, horrible death at worst.”

She paused and gave me a reevaluating once-over. “... I guess I was wrong about you, captain.”

“Glad you are, helmsman,” I snorted. “Say, where is our navigator right now?”

“Getting plowed by your friend.”

I nearly did a spit-take.

“She’s a size queen.”

I did spit-take.

“And man, the size on your friend…”

“I don’t want to know!”

She grinned maliciously, the corners of her lips stretching almost inhumanely wide. “See, that girth of this was like …” she mumbled before making an O-ring with her thumb and index before separating the connection and making it…

“For real?” Hey, I might not be into men, but I could admire nature.

“Oh yeah. Nikki was very happy to see it.”

I rolled my eyes. “Pirates.”

She snorted. “Greenhorn.” She paused. “So why were you on that island anyway? It’s in the middle of nowhere and very close to the Calm Belt.”

I grimaced. “Some asshole dropped me off there with Thorkell, and he’s been training me rather intensely.”

“Oh my, are you sure you’re not -.”

“Shut up.”

She laughed. “Alright, I thought you were just a patty but I guess you’ve got more in you. Name’s Jenna.”

“I’m Alan. Don’t piss me off and I won’t hand you over to the marines when we dock at Ilsia.”

“Fine with me.”

Lol. West is also an interesting choice to go for. It does have some interesting locations like Thriller Bark, and if we are far enough in time, Ohara. We still don't know where in the timeline we are.
