Should Alan accept to become the baron's - or any other noble's - retinue/knight?

Some pros and cons.

Pros:
*Gets land in exchange for military service
*Have an actual noble title to swing around
*We can collect tax on whatever land we get.
*We earn the right to marry other nobles (up to count, but that's very unlikely to happen because even if we seduce a girl, it's up to her father to let her marry or not).

Cons:
*Military service is for life unless we pull some shenanigans down the line.
*Any wars the baron and his liege gets involved in gets us involved as well.
*Less time for our own development.
*Will probably start as knight, which is to say that our noble title is worth not much.

Ask questions if you have them, and I'll do my best to answer them.

Bang all the noble ladys

I actually have very little beef with him going either way. How about he stays independent for now and after he gets himself set up he looks around at the options he has.

To be fair banging tavern wenches have a very special appeal. Medieval costume fetish is fun.
