Demon of Lust in the Land of Water
Chapter 17

Mei raised an eyebrow.
“So. You lost.”
Alan thumped his head on his new Mizukage desk, and didn’t say anything.
She grinned gleefully. “My, my! So even gods can lose to mortals!”
“Please don’t remind me.”
He sounded so miserable. Oh, the “great god” who could bend reality lost to a mere lord of the earth, not even the emperor of the whole world but a lord of a small island nation, and he, after verbally pledging himself as a good vassal of said lord, was now stuck here.
Why?
Even though he wouldn’t say it, Mei knew that Alan Marris, the “High Priest” of Aphrodite and a god himself, was a man of his word. He’d been careless and now suffered for it.
Through paperwork.
“Why won’t you help me…?” he sniffled.
She huffed. “You brought this on yourself. I never said anything about helping you with administration. I’m already busy because all of the work of the temple now falls on my lap, not yours.”
“Ughh….”
She understood why he was going along with being the mizukage, even if he was complaining about it to her.
Because at the end of the day, the worship of Aphrodite would only benefit from having him as an influential and powerful leader among the elites of the Land of Water. By using his position as the Mizukage, he could make and break his religion, and he very much intended to use it in its favor.
Was it nepotism? Yes.
Did it change anything? Yes, for the better for the worshippers of Aphrodite.
Already, the soaring prominence of the Aphro-jin - a combination of Aphrodite and the word -jin tacked onto denote an ethnic group - led others to convert in hopes of sharing in that success. Aphrojin was close to becoming a significant minority religion in Kirigakure.
“Now I have to deal with the guy who was behind Yagura’s brainwashing…”
Mei paused.
When his words finally filtered through her shock and unraveled its meaning inside her head, she stared at him with narrowed eyes.
“Explain. Now.”
He looked up at her and then grimaced.
“Ah. Fuck. Did I say that out loud?”
“Explain. NOW.”
When he did, she couldn’t believe him.
A conspiracy behind the yondaime mizukage? A supposed KIA Konoha-nin trying to ruin Kirigakure because his girlfriend in the war?
Just -!
Ugh.
Ugh.
This man…
“You couldn’t tell me about this before?” she hissed while veins throbbed on her temples as her temper threaten to blow over and burn this room and him. Literally.
“Well, it wasn’t a problem before. Displacing Yagura made that a problem.”
She sighed in irritation and massaged her nose bridge.
Okay, so the situation was far more complicated than a god following his own words and getting forced into becoming the mizukage. Not only was the Daimyo of the Land of Water expecting great results, there were outside threats that had infiltrated deep enough to brainwash and control the mizukage still loose in the city.
‘You know, the city with a labyrinthian tunnel system,’ she thought in dismay. Merely searching through those tunnels would take months, nevermind fighting and winning against someone who could take control of Yagura.
“What are you going to do then?” she asked him, because he was kind of the silver bullet for these kinds of weird and ridiculous situations. Besides, he was the Mizukage now. It was his goddamn job to deal with this kind of shit.
Alan smiled.
She glared.
When Alan smiled, she got fucked, both metaphorically and literally.
“I’m going to go talk to him!”
“Him…?” she asked slowly, drawing out the word as she waited for him to respond.
“Yagura and his control, Uchiha Madara!”
Uchiha?!
“Wait, who?”
“Uchiha Madara,” he hummed as he did something with his hands. In the span of time for her to blink, all of the paperwork strewn about his desk stacked themselves neatly into a single pile without making a single sound.
And when she glanced at the top of the pile, she saw a signed paper.
Did he … did he just use his god-like powers to do paperwork?
Wait, back to the name he mentioned.
“You’re saying that Uchiha Madara is alive,” she asked slowly.
“Well, he is, but it’s two people calling themselves Madara. The original and the man who I just spoke to you about. Both of them are Uchiha, and are dangerous, even if the latter is not as dangerous as a crippled and elderly Madara.”
“And you’ll take care of them, right? They’re threats to Kirigakure…”
He nodded with a smile.
She did not like that smile.
“I definitely will,” he hummed as he stood up from his chair. “In fact, I’m going to use this chance to travel abroad, meet with other kages and daimyos, and do some diplomacy!”
Her stomach dropped in horror. “No, you don’t get to just-!” she lashed out with her hands to grab him.
But he was gone and she was gripping the arm of his chair.
His disembodied voice rang in her ears afterwards. “Take of Kiri for about a month for me, Mei-chan! I’ll give you a good night afterwards!”
“YOU SON OF A B-!”

Deep in under Kiri in one of its tunnels, I cackled before quickly calming myself.
I took a deep breath in and let it out slowly.
And then I turned to look at the two men who have been watching me carefully.
“So. Obito.”
That got a reaction out of the masked man standing there, but not the brainwashed Yagura standing beside him.
“Let’s talk like men,” I crooned before making a body out of thin air. A body whose appearance was indistinguishable to Nohara Rin. Before he could say anything, I pulled the girl’s soul out of the ether and held it out for him to see, and extended my ability to see and feel reality to him so that he could see I held Rin’s soul.
I gave her a light squeeze, and she shuddered in my hand.
Obito froze.
“Let’s talk about how you’ll work for me in exchange for your love. How do you feel about leading me to Madara’s corpse in exchange for a resurrection?”
