Chapter 8: Jorasmang City

-VB-

I ended up spending a lot of time each week with both Lux and Sona, despite the fact that I had a ton of workload.

To start with, my workload involved a lot of paperwork, so I sat most of my afternoon in my office filling out documents. I used the morning to train myself with the master-at-arms of the Jorasmang Crownguard branch, a man loaned out to me by my parents for the sake of training up my initial man-at-arms and retinue.

I then spent the night talking, joking, and laughing with either Lux or Sona, though in the latter’s case, I did often sweep her up to her bed and repeatedly claim her.

It was actually something I would have to address soon with Lux, because my twin sister was becoming slowly more and more envious of Sona ever since I began to spend more time with the blue haired beauty.

It was why I set aside most of my paperwork today to spend time with Lux.

“Brother!” Lux squealed before jumping into my hug.

I laughed, too. It’s been a while since I saw her this excited.

“You finally have time for me!” she pouted as she pulled away. I just shrugged. “No excuses!” I just shrugged again. She slapped the side of my shoulder before looking at me expectantly. “So what are we doing today?”

“I was wondering if you were up to exploring the markets of the Jorasmang City.”

She beamed me with a smile and a frantic nod.

Ever since I took over Jorasmang County, I had put a lot of focus on developing Jorasmang City to my standard. This meant capitalism. I advertised my city as one with very little regulation (regarding the kidneys of product made) and myself as someone with a keen eye for quality product. I invested into artisans, crafters, and innovators while recreating some of the tools from my past as well. I even got the Crown of Demacia to invest in my city!

And where the Crown invested, so too did nobles and wealthy merchants with money to make.

As a result of this, Jorasmang City developed and continued to develop as a prosperous city. It was where people came expecting to see new objects, subjects, and ideas.

Perhaps a result of all of this was a booming tourism industry aimed at the wealthy and nobles. In the markets of Jorasmang City…

There were a lot of pretty but useless trinkets.

And clothes of many different fashions.

And jewelry.

And toys.

And books.

And did I mention that the city also had a circus?

The first shop Lux tried out while dragging me behind her was … the clothes shop.

“Ah, Master Crownguard!” the shop owner, a rail-thin and dark-skinned designer from Piltover named Garik Reaumonte, quickly came to my assistance as soon as he saw me. He left the others with the help of his assistants, and he stood half-bowed in front of me and Lux. “It is an honor to have you step in my shop, Your Lordship!”

“It is great to see you as well, Mr. Reaumonte, and to see that my investment was a wise choice!” I greeted jovially.

Mr. Garik Reaumonte was a good man, but he was not a politician in the city of Piltover where even a scrap of shop needed to be fought over with politics. He had been impoverished as a result of his shortcomings and one significant failure, so he had come to Demacia to try his luck. Because of his foreign-ness, however, the Great City of Demacia was not welcoming of him. He left once more, having heard of my city, and had knelt before me with examples of his art.

I accepted him into the city and gave him fifty gold coins to help him get started.

Now, a single gold coin was enough to feed a Demacian peasant family for a year. Fifty gold coin had been just enough for Mr. Reaumonte to buy a shop at the periphery of my growing “downtown” and start his business.

I was happy, of course, not only as the lord of Jorasmang City but also as a shareholder of Reaumonte Designs; having fifteen percent share of the Reaumonte Designs, I received my share of two gold coins a month. This was, of course, a share of the profit.

“My twin sister here has heard of your fabulous work, my friend!” I announced cheerfully in a store filled with other customers, one of whom bore the insignia of the distant Princedom of the Silent Forest, an ally of Demacia. He was but one of many nobles, spies, and merchants in and around the store. “I hope you can fit her with your best work!” I was, of course, advertising.

Garik bowed deeply. “I shall meet your high standards, Your Lordship and Ladyship!”

Lux giggled at the hammy nature of Garik’s declaration. “I want something… uhh…” Lux began loudly but realized that whatever she wanted to say might be inappropriate, especially in front of a large crowd. “S-Something frilly and practical!”

“Oh, a challenge!”

Challenge sounded right for what Lux blurted out. The words “frilly” and “practical” didn’t quite go together for most dresses.

“Come right over here, Your Ladyship. I will show you all that my shop has to offer! You shall be the prettiest girl to leave our shop today!”

I laughed as Lux blushed prettily, and gave her a little hand wave as she went deeper into the shop.

I ended up seeing Lux in a lot of different outfits, but the one that caught my eye was the very same outfit that canon Lux often walked around in.

“Do I look alright in this?” she asked with a bit of a blush on her face. After all, Demacia was still in its middle age mindset, and that particular outfit’s skintight spandex-esque look around her belly was … scandalous.

I thought it was sexy.

“It looks beautiful on you,” I replied with a smile. “We can buy that if you want?”

“Y-Yes, please.”

“Two sets of that outfit to be delivered to my manor, Mr. Reaumonte.”

“Of course, Your Lordship.”

“Let’s go see what there’s to eat now. I'm a little famished,” I said as I dragged Lux out in her current outfit.

We spent the entire afternoon exploring the city, and came back just in time for dinner. It was a light affair of soups and soft white bread.

I was actually about to go to bed when someone knocked on my bedroom door.

“Come in,” I said as I sat up and lit the candle on my bed stand with a match of my making.

Lux walked in… in a see through lingerie.

Oh boy.
