Prologue
Mace Windu grimaced as the corvette - one of many dozens - raced towards the accursed planet.
“This is the culmination of the last twenty-five years’ worth of work,” he spoke outloud to others - and himself- quietly. “We cannot afford to fail.”
He looked over the crowd of Jedis and nodded.
They dispersed to their stations, save one.
“Master Windu, why…. Why are we invading this planet?”
It was a human padawan, and her master stood behind her.
Mace took a deep breath and let out a sigh of frustration aimed not at the padawan but the situation they were in.
“The short answer is two fold: this world is part of an interstellar nation aggressively conquering other stars and thus is shattering the peace of the Republic, and its presence in the Force corrupts others near it.”
The padawan nodded and stepped back. Her master gave him a nod as he shepherded his padawan, leaving Mace to his own thoughts.
He looked at the quickly approaching planet and couldn’t help but wonder.
How could the Jedi Order fail at its task so badly that an outright invasion was required?
When the Republic first learned of this new fledgling empire, it was one of wariness. It ignored the demands of the Galactic Republic to cease its martial conquests, and spearheaded deep into the Outer Rim and the Mid Rim. For two whole decades, the Republic watched helplessly as this monster added planet after planet and system after system to its might.
It was a ruthless regime that slaughtered millions, devastated entire systems in their campaign, and created numerous organic monsters to do their bidding.
Today, the Jedi was putting a stop to this madness.

The Jedi landed just outside the capital city of the planet, and along with their volunteer soldiers, they charged towards the city gate.
The city walls tried to keep them out, but the dozens of artillery they brought with them easily bore through the energy shields and then the physical walls. The turrets mounted on the walls tried in vain to keep them away, but the Jedi parried the laser blasts and disabled the crew manning the turrets and then the turrets themselves.
They broke through the wall… and then came face to face with the man responsible for everything.
Standing in front of them in his iconic reptilian-like organic power “suit,” Warlord Marris met them with his hands behind his back and eyes leveling a glare at them.
Mace winced as he stepped out of the suddenly halted charge of Jedis and volunteers alike.
“Warlord Marris, you are hereby under arrest for the disruption of galactic peace.”
The warlord looked him over before scoffing. “Did you honestly think that I was going to follow the orders of the corrupt republic and the Jedi Order?”
“Just because you call it corrupt does not make us corrupt, Marris. You are a warlord, and you need to be stopped! You are the biggest breaker of peace and the corruption of the Force! You will stand down or face the wrath of the Jedi Order!”
“So this is all that the Jedis are: bullies,” he declared loudly not only to the Jedis strugglings to their feet in front of him but the camera drones flying about, recording this event. “Under the pretense that there is an imbalance in your mystical Force, you invade a sovereign planet to kill its king!”
“You are a conqueror, not a king. A warlord, you are,” Yoda responded from Mace’s left.
“I am freeing slaves! Is that so wrong?” the warlord roared angrily. “You sit in your literal ivory towers, unwilling to bolster your numbers or your influence to deal with the problems of the galaxy! When someone else takes the problem into their own hands, you call them warlords, vigilantes, and criminals, and kill them!”
“There are procedures that exist to ensure that the galaxy does not fall into chaos!”
“It’s chaos everywhere but the Core and Inner Rim!” the warlord spat back at them. “I’m done with this conversation! For two whole decades you’ve tried to kill me! To stop me! I am doing what is necessary to remove slavery from this galaxy, and YOU!” he roared so passionately and loudly that Mace’s ears rang. “You’ve done nothing but maintain your FUCKING status quo!”
Holes of various sizes opened up all along the road and on the sides of the buildings facing the main road that they were on, and monsters began to crawl out of them. Some towered over the species present while others were no bigger than Mace’s own fist.
“If the Jedi Order wants a war, then I’ll give them one!”
Mace brought his lightsaber up and lit it.
“Open fire!” Marris roared.
Mace’s firm determination gave away to shock when he saw more monsters pop up from the roof of the buildings lining the streets. Their maws opened, a light shining brightly from within their throats, and -!
“Shields!” Mace roared and the Jedi and volunteers holding mobile shield generators quickly jumped out to the front. Their shields activated, forming an energy barrier right in front of their force just as the monsters fired lasers at them from their maws.
The shield bearers buckled under the assault, and the generators they carried with them gave off sparks of electricity as they tried to compensate for the sudden assault.
The assault ended, and Mace charged forward with his brothers and sisters behind him.
Marris roared and his monsters countercharged.
Lightsaber met claws.
The Ryndellion War began.
