Hello, we are almost done sculpting the first of the two new April sets. I am rendering them right now so next week will have lots of updates.

Lets start with the biggest model of April, the "Legendary Arena". It will have 96 parts, a few of them are optional variations for the ground though. Fully assembled it has the following size:
Length: 443,86 mm
Width: 398,78 mm
Height: 132,04 mm

Legendary Arena - Build by the Storm Giants, this arena has seen many epic battles. It will be the venue of the legendary Tournament!

Arena Statues - We made these models as decorative statues for the Arena. But you can of course repurpose them as actual minis! And all 6 of them only take one slot of the ~80 models coming in April!

Gladiator Male - This experienced warrior survived many battles in the Arena. He only needs a few more victories to get his freedom back.

Revealed 12 of ~80 new April models. More to be shown soon.

Thank You!

O.M.F.G ! Do you have any idea of the resin weight of this beauty ?

I've been suffering from my Epic Mini renders for the last few days, but I knew it was building up to something awesome, but holy moly I didn't expect something this big! Have you thought of having a Facebook page so we can share photos of our prints and paintjobs etc? Might attract more people to join your Patreon too.

No idea yet how much resin it would take. It is definitely printable with a standard resin printer though. If you want to save some resin, you could hollow many of the parts, even the ground. Or if you have a FDM printer, I would recommend combining some of the tiles and using that. 😃

It took really long to organize the 96 parts of the arena and I wanted to show it first so that the gladiator model makes sense. But now that the Arena is done, the updates will continue as usual. We have an inactive Facebook Group with a few dozen members but no one that manages it. To neglect the sculpting of new models to manage such groups is not optimal in my opinion. But it is on our to-do list.

Epic ... you live up to your name ;)

In addition to using these as mini's, I think they will make some excellent statues. Always looking for more of those. Great job!

sick sick sick - epick! :D Very cool stuff!

Seeing that there are ~80 models released in April and that the Legendary Arena numbers 96 pieces, Gimli's reaction to Legolas killing an olifant springs to mind.

Now we need people seated so we can fill the stands. 😝

Why so many pieces to the Arena? Just eyeballing it based on a 443x398mm footprint (approximately the size of a large magazine opened flat), I would’ve guessed maybe 10-16 structural pieces, maybe as few as 6-8 if you chop it into pieces that use most of a standard FDM printer build plate. For comparison, at 28mm scale, a regulation US basketball court is around 500mmx275mm (miniature scaling is imprecise but 28mm is around 1:60 or 1:55), so unless we scale *up* the print pretty considerably, the Arena is pretty small by storm giant standards?

Gonna need a bigger table!

Just eyeballing (so this is just a guess), it might be 2 pieces for each space between pillars. That would be around 60 pieces right there, then pieces on the inside like the podium and the floor of the arena, then the statues repeated around the outside and that would easily reach 96 parts. I would imagine they chopped it up so it would fit resin printers like the Mars and Photon as well as being able to print on an FDM, which would mean smaller sections.

captivating beauty

epic_miniatures

Haha yeah doesn't matter how big and how many parts it has, one sculpt does only count as one sculpt. 😃

epic_miniatures

You would need many different ones though. Maybe a set with ~40 sitting models next? (Joke) 🤣

Sean John

Do you have a chart for scaling miniatures? I want to scale a Tarrasque into Medium, Large, Huge, Gargantuan but don't know how to approach it.

epic_miniatures

Hello Sean, the basic rule of scaling down a model is to open a reference model next to the model you want to scale inside your slicer. A chart with percentages wouldn't work since every bigger model has its own problem zones when scaled down.
