Hello, we have made some more skeletons that work with our very first Set 01 "Crypt of Dread". The mentioned Set 01 and the Set 04 "Corrupted Forest" will be our throwback sets for November. So if you miss them in your collection, it will be the perfect opportunity to get them!

Our next post will be a very ghostly update!

Now for some Images:

With archers and cavalry added, you can now create a full fledged Skeleton Army!

"You have problems taking down undead creatures? Try it with one that is as big as an house I say!"

"Big, sharp claws, sharp teeth and INSANE!"

"Ohh, what a fabulous night to be alive again! -Crazy Skeleton Wizard"

Thank You!

YES! You guys continue to blow me away. You just solved all my skeleton problems. One suggestion though - on the giant undead, with the entrails hanging out - you may want to reconsider the placement of that intestine. It looks like "something else". :| On another note - any chance we could see a skeletal 2-headed/Ettin style creature?

Glitterwolf

I've just started drooling...awesome, I love Undead Armies..

epic_miniatures

Haha I agree, the angel of that render for the Undead Cyclops was not optimal. But I guarantee you that it doesn't look like "something else" when you can see the actual model. A two headed skeleton is a good idea! But I think we have enough skeletons for this release. For the next skeleton set for sure though. 😃

You don't happen to have a dragonborn necromancer coming with this undead army do you? 😅

tj

Ok so my first thought was "Damn that cyclops minotaur is packing". Then I realized it is probably the intestines.

CycyX

Quick one: I'm a new patron, but will these be pre-supported, like the set #3?

epic_miniatures

We are currently looking for someone who we can commission with pre-supporting our models. After we have found someone, everything will be pre-supported at some point. 😃

Glitterwolf

A little warning though, even with presupported files always check for islands and add some extras where needed. Nobody is perfect!

They look awesome. Are you only going to make human skeletons? It would be great if you could throw in some of the other races as well (dwarf, orc...)

Christofer K.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yeeees yes YES yes YAAAAAY yes yes!

3vil3lvis

Those Bone Claws are awesome! Would like to see skeletal horses, bone Devils and Death Tyrants in this mix.

epic_miniatures

Have noted them for the future. I think this set has enough Skeletons, so we decided to focus more on other creatures of the night. 😃

Saúl Wiscovich Torres

Those skeletons are looking mighty sweet! I do have a possible suggestion maybe? You could have some of them not have lower mandibles. They are skeletons, so maybe missing the jaw could be an alternative to them. Regular version and a quick edit for a jawless version or half destroyed skull version. Like them anyway.

So, completely, off-the-hook EXCITED FOR THIS. YYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaassssssssssss!!!!

tj

I currently have so many skeleton miniature file's and miniature's, but I want these too. If you haven't made everything your going to yet, may I request a few props. Human body parts, bones with meat still on them.

epic_miniatures

We are calling the skeleton part of this release finished for now but I noted them for future skeleton projects.

epic_miniatures

We have already decided for the props in this release. I noted them for future releases though.

I won't be able to continue my membership if I need to download and store every release you make. The October release was 9,7 gigabyte and if I don't download it I will lose access to it when the link expires. Could you please look into providing a way for us to receive the models according to our membership, but letting the files be stored online so we can download only what we need, when we need it? I know Duncan Shadow started to use Gumroad.com for this, but any similar service would do. I simply do not have the time, bandwidth or storage space to download everything you make, when I'm most likely only going to print 10% of it and, more often than not, many months after the models release when the need to have the model printed arises.

epic_miniatures

Hello Icenor, I can totally understand your issue. But have you considered using Dropbox Pus? You would get 2TB of storage space and can easily copy and paste the models from our Dropbox to yours. This way you can download whenever you need the models.

epic_miniatures

They should print without problems. The bone thickness is the same as with the Set 01 skeletons.

Glitterwolf

If you could make a deal with Myminifactory, there you can store the stuff you got in a library.

epic_miniatures

I have contacted MyMiniFactory many times but their response time is really slow and sometimes they don't even bother to answer. It is like Icenor said, we need a better way to distribute models. But I don't see an optimal solution yet.

love it! any chance for a skeletal horse?

epic_miniatures

We tried skeleton horses but it didn't work with our style. So we have decided to use demonic horses instead. 😃

Anonymous

No worries, they still look awesome

Glitterwolf

I actually like the demon horses. Would love some rotten zombie horses as well.

Anonymous

These are so awesome. Any chance we get to see a couple of hunchback ghouls as well?

So many miniatures of skeletons are so plain and generic. These are amazing! No longer will my players say things like "I attack the second skeleton. No, not that one, the other one that looks just like it." I love these!

epic_miniatures

That is one of the reasons why I started this Patreon with Skeletons. I had the same issue when I was a GM.

I hate repairing/reprinting/repainting models and some of this stuff looks pretty fragile. I am certainly not asking for redesigns of anything... just wanted to voice my concern that durability maters to me moving forward. I don't think I will take as much time as I usually do painting something like these skeletons or Dr. Zombiestein, because I am pretty sure they will be missing bits the first time they take a tumble. They look awesome, but ultimately they may not be a good fit for me and how I expect to use them.

epic_miniatures

We could have made the skeletons with thicker bones, but it would have resulted in a cartoony look. Sometimes you have to compromise, either make them realistic but with thin parts, or cartoony but sturdy. The strength of a Mini is also determined by the resin you use. If you mix a 20-50% flex resin to you standard resin, you will get much more sturdy prints. Please have a look: https://youtu.be/smebtj-tqiY Miniatures printed with that mixture will probably even survive a fall from the table. or a strong grip on thin parts.

I understand your points and still humbly disagree with some of the choices being made. That's fine! Its your art and I am not ever going to tell you what you should do! But, unfortunately it may be a factor in whether it is useful to me personally. I am aware of the techniques you mention with the flexible resin. I already use a "tough" resin and have already been looking at (the frankly expensive) flexible additives, but if I stick to printing minis that are not likely to break, I don't need to increase my resin costs so dramatically. Even with the addition of flex resin, I am dubious that many of these details would not just break with handling or storage. You provide SO much value with your offerings that I hesitated to sound ungrateful, I am not! I just find myself wishing I could make use of more of your wonderful designs. Thanks for considering my humble feedback!

epic_miniatures

Hello Murdock, don't worry, critique is always welcome here and we use it as a way to improve. And I totally understand your concerns. We will consider that in future sculpts. But if the original concept (like skeletons) have thin parts as part of their concept, there is not much we can do without changing the concept dramatically. There is a reason why the biggest Miniature Patrons avoid skeletons, you know. At the end, it all really depends on how much we want our models to resemble the concept.
