I am a straight female who had a High School boyfriend (whom I had sex with for the first time). then a 2 boyfriends through college and a year after college until meeting the man I married for 20 years that I thought was loyal, true, and genuine. We divorced in 2020 due to his many many many affairs and compulsive lying through the 20 years, of marriage. (BTW, I realize that I was listening to his words and not noticing his actions, ignoring the things and feelings and intuition that I felt and wanting to see the person, I wished he was instead of the person he actually was. It took me having a seizure, a very wise counselor, explaining to me the reality of the situation that every time we came to his office, the story changed. Once we finally separated, I changed the locks on the house and was able to gain perspective, I saw the error of my ways. ). However, back to the point… Now I have experienced Dating and relationships in my late 40s. To answer your last question, nothing has changed for me from HS - age 47, straight men promising they will happily use a condom if they can have sex with me. I have never had sex with a man who put a condom on a.k.a. for me and didn’t ask to take it off, and even in one instance slip off the condom (w/o my consent) because they just can’t cum with a condom on!!! I am so sick of straight males who think they’re entitled to stick their mess in me unprotected and ruin my experience. God knows where that thing has been!! I have never had a partner keep their goddamn word. It is so fun being a single female, no matter what stage in life🤯🤮🥷 I’m finally at a place where The only person I feel like I can trust is myself and I’m less lonely than I’ve ever been💕. But I have to say it is really hard to trust a straight man. Its happened to me from 15-47. If They want it, they will say anything to get it and always ask to take the condom off! I think the problem with Hannah for me is that there’s no affection or kindness behind her “jokes.” It’s always said with contempt or anger. If you contrast this with Taylor and Garrett, who also jab around, they seem to be grounded in affection. The bickering from Hannah points to an unwillingness to be vulnerable. She has refused to be vulnerable since leaving the pods and I think she needs therapy and about 5 more years before she needs to think weddings. I know people think this is cute and playful, but it’s aggressive.

You can see Ramses’ religious upbringing with how he lectures people. He was inadvertently telling her to take the Pill. It’s a problem because it has a multitude of side effects, & over time can increase the risk of cancer. A friend of mine developed cervical cancer after using the Pill for a long time. I had to stop mine because it made my chronic health issue (endometriosis) worse, as well as having depressive episodes on it. It’s a complex issue. But whoever is going to take the pill, it should be their choice if they want to go down that course or not. These two aren’t going to work out.

I tend more towards Ramses’ views on the military, but I think he is too stubborn in his views. Especially after meeting her mom. I can TOTALLY understand why Marissa wanted to join the military after growing up in that family. It seems like life was hard and chaotic, and she didn’t have a lot of opportunities. The military promises structure, predictability, and financial help with education. Of course that would appeal to her!! I also think it’s one thing to critique an institution and another to vilify the people that are a part of it. I wonder how he would feel if someone judged his faith in a Christian God because of the actions of a fundamentalist church. Marissa knows that his belief in that God doesn’t mean he co-signs the actions of every church institution. He should extend the same intellectual empathy to her and realize that her participation in the military doesn’t mean she agrees with everything the military industrial complex does.

I have experienced men having issues with condoms, but straight men do exist who will respect your wishes about them no questions asked. One of the biggest green flags about my current partner was the fact that the first time we had sex, he got out a condom and put it on without my even asking. It was just a given. One of the hottest things he could have done TBH. (And the fact that it was a magnum didn’t hurt either lolol 🍆) but seriously, you are right to hold out for what you want and what you DESERVE! I agree! Notice how cold Hannah’s parents were toward her. There was no real affection in that family at all. Seeing Hannah’s very aloof thin mother, I can imagine Hannah had a difficult time growing up-hence mommy locking away food. I think Hannah’s aggressive nature is a defense mechanism since she wasn’t allowed to be vulnerable as a child. I hope she stays single and gets serious therapy.

Well, how long has it been since flat screen TVs became relatively cheap and were then mounted on walls all over the place? I personally hate it when they’re high up on a wall because I’m old and used to TV being at my eye level when I’m sitting or lying on a couch, not having to look up. I know I’m probably the only one thinking this, but I don’t like Taylor’s insistence on moving to CA. Sure, they had conversations about this in the pods and he co-signed (while being in this space of being away from his friends and family), but I just keep asking myself, what would she have done if someone didn’t agree with her stance on moving? I’m an older Sissy. When I grew up, Toland Flags became a big suburbanite thing. Especially dawning a pineapple flag to let your neighbors know this is a friendly home. When a new neighbor moved in, I was taught to always include a pineapple in the gift basket because, back in the day, pineapples were hard to come by so giving one as a housewarming gift was considered a lovely gesture. Fast forward, I was having a luncheon for my Aunties and I dug out my Tolsnd Flag from 30 years ago. As I hung it I hear a “Mother!!!!! What on Earth!!!” Coming from my teenager who explained to me the new meaning. When did this happen. I did a google search & it began as the upside down pineapple to mean swinging. But now it’s just the pineapple itself. Basement Boy’s sweet parents are pineapple clueless like I was. They’ve gone out of their way to put out a loving welcome symbol. The only emotional worry being gay is it’s not uncommon to stay friends & in the same social circle with an ex. My jealously couldn’t handle it. I’d love a show on how young (20’s) gay ladies handle that. The majority of my families gay men seem to not be as jealous as my families young gay ladies get. Idk the situation around how she was cut off but it’s not uncommon where I’m from that if you’re not going to post-secondary you’re expected to start working. Also I don’t see Hannah as a reliable narrator based on how she sees things generally; she has a tendency to read everything in the worst possible light. The way she told the story of Nick & the women on the beach later? If she’s anything like how she is now as an 18yo, I’d also not want her in my house. Even her brother said she’s mean. If the oldest child is being this mean to her young siblings, maybe it’s best she moves out. Her parents read as run of the mill Caucasian parents who care about appearances & might’ve had too high standards to me - not horribly abusive or nightmares.
