Hey there, strange and wonderful patrons!
THE COSTUMING CONTINUES!

Today's episode looks at what the technical and choreographic ~consequences~ that these (awesome) costume pieces create in relation to what I've been building, rehearsing, and sharing with you so far. There's challenges ahead, but they're solvable!

Your NEXT instalment of Atelier Barbette (number TWENTY!!!) will grace your inboxes on Thursday April 6th at 9am! It looks at the final Residency session of this latest batch you've been watching and features some guest appearances from Michael Slack, Marie-Josée Gauthier, and Isabeau (the ballet teacher!).

We'll likely have a brief pause in the posting schedule at that point while I shift into mini–producer-mode to coordinate ...

(a) my final batch of TOHU Residency times in April, in Montréal (I'm wrangling artistic counsellors & a small army of pullers to piece together this chapter of things);

(b) a "public process showing" at TOHU on April 27th -- I'll show a small group of arts organizers from TOHU what I've been working on, and some local artists; and

(c) filming some of the content that will go into the video documentation of the work during the week of April 21 to 28 (let's call it a short film for sake of ease).

All of that means coordinating with new members of the Barbette team: a Lighting Designer (and his assistant); a Montreal videographer (and her assistant); local Montreal artists I'll be hiring to be production assistants on a couple big days at the end of April where time is short and the list of goals for the day is long; and more. Gulp.

I'll also be ...

(1) wrapping up things in Toronto to head back to Montréal for April Residency and this final big push for this chapter of the Barbette project (not the end, though ... still nowhere near the end of it ... *nervous laughter*)

(2) Coordinating with my composer, Greg Harrison, on the original composition he's cooking up with the Scheherezade and Max Cooper reference material I've been using to build the choreography to thus far -- including studio sessions to record real-life actual musicians for what he's composed! AHHH!

(3) squeezing in 20+ hours of voiceover sessions for that video game project I was working on last year that suddenly popped up again like, "Surprise! Wanna pay your rent for the summer?"

WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS.

Until next time, stay strange and wonderful --

XO
