Hello, my dear, strange, and wonderful patrons!

I present to you your eighth instalment in the top-secret-itty-bitty Atelier Barbette vlogs, a series in which I trained a legion of imperious Norwegian Forest cats in the dark arts of video editing in order to do my bidding and rearrange terabytes of 2022 studio footage into the tasty digital tidbits before you*.

(*possible hyperbole; will neither confirm nor deny the verity of this statement at this time)

This catches us all the way up to the last bits of footage that I recorded in December 2022 for my ENC / TOHU Residency with acrobatic coach William Bonet, conseil artistque Marie-Josée Gauthier, and peer mentor and very-patient-lines-puller Tanya Burka.

I hope you enjoyed this first little foray into some exclusive video-format process-sharing! I made them all from beneath a mountain of snotty Kleenexes over a 2.5 day marathon of sickly video editing on my couch at home in Toronto at the start of the month. While these posts are no less time-intensive than the long-form writing I generally share on here, I found them rewarding to make and felt excited to share them.

There will be future instalments of Atelier Barbette, as there will be future Residency time being granted to me by La TOHU in the ENC studios in the months of February and March (hooray! huzzah! *throws hat in air*)

But in the meantime . . .

* * * * * * *

I've been hard at work this month trying to get the wheels turning on costuming for this number.

Your next updates on Le Numéro Barbette will land next week, where I'm excited to show you what I've been up to on all the sparkles, crystals, pearls, feathers, and general showgirl-ephemera going into making this Barbette as fabulous as I can make her!

Until next time, stay strange and wonderful -
XO

Oh Ess!!!!!! Just catching up on all of Jan and half of December- oh, I LOOOOOVVVVEEEE!!!!! Wherever the final form of this project lands, I hope you get a massive stage for it (with whatever the precise Goldilocks height is that you need for it, neither too tall nor too short, so you don't have to worry about it!)! I also kind of like the little extra resistance from the puller when you're trying to get your hand down near the beginning- adds to the exhausted, I'm-just-done-with-this sense (for me, anyhow)

Oh YAYYYY!!!! Thank you SO much, Lena! ❤️ Wherever it ends up, it'll be the right place for it. I feel certain of it! Even if it's not Demain. /// YES 1000% agree with the puller-resistance moment! it's a dance!
