Happy Saturday, you strange, wonderful reader! SLOW CIRCUS: BARBETTE is officially re-stocked in Ye Olde Strange Wonderful Bookshop!

Use the code 7AC38Y7 at checkout for an extra $10 off any book orders until June 7th.

I've done some re-structuring with my shipping, for everything in the shop:

  • FREE across Canada

  • $5 CAD flat rate across the United States

  • $10 CAD flat rate shipping WORLDWIDE (6,75 EU).

I've found some super cute BIODEGRADABLE BUBBLE MAILERS  too, for the softcovers!

If somebody orders a softcover they can pop the packing right into their home composter! Check this out:

From the company: "100% Biodegradable: The bubble cushioning wrap is made of PBAT and modified corn starch. The envelope is made of kraft. They are certified by BPI, OK compost [see below] and meet the standards of ASTM 6400 and EN13432. They generates less CO2 than traditional plastic. Tear-resistant, puncture-resistant, and waterproof."

Biodegradable Products Institute(BPI): Denotes certification by the Biodegradable Products Institute for use in commercial and municipal composting facilities, in compliance with U.S. standard ASTM D6400 100% Compostable ( CERT # 7719318, has been granted on August 31, 2019).

OK Compost Home: Denotes certification by Tüv Austria as 100% compostable in backyard and home composting units. Based on European standard EN 13432, OK Compost Home is one of the world's only home composting certifications ( CERT # S329, has been granted on July 06, 2020).

There are SOFTCOVERS (!) as well as remaining stock of the limited-run hardcovers:

  • Slow Circus: Barbette Hardcovers: $74 CAD ( 54 USD / 50 EU)

  • Slow Circus: Barbette Softcovers: $52 CAD (38 USD / 35 EU)

  • Slow Circus: VACUUM Hardcovers: $106 CAD*

I KNOW, I KNOW, I'M SORRY, BARF. Listen: I never took a business class. I'm learning as I go. I learn a lot from each of the zines and books I've been making. A couple lessons are what I call Stubbed-Toe-Lessons: the things you only discover by running directly into them, hard. You're happy to learn them, but wish you could've gotten the memo without the discomfort.

With the new level of authorial–entrepreneurial savoir faire I gleaned from making Barbette, I decided to sit down and re-crunch ALL THE NUMBERS about the creation and sales of VACUUM. I realized I'd missed some important production costs when I was calculating how much to sell them for. And I've been ... uh ... selling many of those books at a loss (depending on the shipping). WHOOPS. Yikes.

So – yeah. Price just went up for the last box of remaining VACUUM hardcovers. It's a mistake that won't be repeated now that I've found my current printer, so I'm sucking it up and moving on.

And hey – it's still a deal compared to this listing that I stumbled across last week!

[*cackling*] [lightheartedly: have I made it? have I arrived? Is this a metric of success? or failure? or something else? 😂 ]

More from me soon. Have a strange and wonderful weekend!

XO ess

I am eager to buy the Vacuum book but the site is insisting on Canadian dollars and the discount code isn’t working.
