Hey! That’s me! Thanks for the shout out! My husband and I love your content!

Personally my signature turn 1 plays at My lgs is land, dark ritual, sol ring, signet, phyrexian arena. Then lan nod then turn 2 saskia or yidris. If I see phyrexian arena later than turn 3 I don't bother, I throw it under chrome mox or away with a wheel.

Awesome episode!! Made me rethink about a couple of cards in my decks. I also hope DJ will be filling in a lot while Jimmy is gone!! I love what he brings to the show!!

I really hate the conversation around EDH power levels at my lgs, reddit, or just online in general. Most people I see just go with "Any deck that I lose against is 100% cutthroat competitive and any deck that loses to me is casual." I've been told my Gishath dino tribal deck is compeitive which is just crazy. There's no real conversation just a bunch of "My definition is right and anything else is wrong" attitudes. You guys did an amazing job of discussing this and specifically pointing out that the most important thing is to COMMUNICATE before you sit down and play.

I'm sure I missed it, but how to I determine the power level of my deck? I've got an Arcanis, the Omnipotent mill deck that works most of the time, but I want to take it to the next level

DJ is doing an awesome job of filling in while Jimmy is away on his super secret project. Really good chemistry with Josh and great info. This episode was fantastic!

I think it's important to note that a big part of the social contract for competitive EDH is that each player should be playing to win. Doing something that doesn't help you win or isn't stopping someone from winning is generally frowned upon (such as spite plays, revenge plays, etc). The reason why MLD, tutors, or other effects aren't frowned upon are because they're generally advancing your game state to help you win. It's also totally okay to beat up the guy with the least health, because eliminating a player that's open gets you closer to winning. And each player plays knowing that if the shoe was on the other foot, they'd do the same thing, because it was the right move. Whereas at "lower" tiers it could be argued that the primary focus is to have fun, because EDH is a "casual" format, the competitive mindset's #1 rule is: win. https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/an-introduction-to-cedh-part-1/ This is my favorite article on what it means to play at that cEDH level, what your focus is, etc. If anyone is interested in playing at that level, I highly suggest you check it out.

I've been brewing up a Sai, Master Thopterist list and two cards that didn't make the cut because I thought they were too mana intensive were Illusionists Bracers and Helm of the Host. So listening to this episode was very validating. Great content guys, really digging DJ on the show!
