Spira's development after Sin could only be described as skyrocketing. Where there had previously been cities, giant metropolises rose, towns turned into cities, and villages turned into towns. Shipping lanes were free of their risky burdens, and flourished, connecting people in a manner not seen in a thousand years.

Besaid was no exception. As the village grew, the very landscape changed. Stepping outside one's house no longer brought the sounds of the sea, a lull in one's moment of existence, but rather gave way to markets and festivities.

Lulu had at first been distraught, with the forest growing ever more distant as civilization spread and her excursions becoming more and more rare as she was saddled with increasing responsibility. Thankfully, as she came to realize, she needed not necessarily go to the forest if the forest could instead come to her.

The harbor was perfect for such arrangement. Less reputable, everyone who frequented it had a tendency to keep their eyes and mouths to themselves - all of them intent on keeping their own presence as nondescript as possible, after all.

It was here she found her solace - cheap hotel rooms, sometimes free owing to her status as mayor, and her old... friends easily reachable by the shipping lanes going by the coastline.

As far as Wakka knew, she was working overtime in the top echelons, tending to business meetings deep into the night. While those business meetings certainly did occur, was were remarkably similar to her current situation, spreading and having some goblins run a train on her was preferable by every measure - if anything, they seemed to have no illusions about romance or similar nonsense.

A single message sent with a boat, and within hours, she would lay there - pounded raw by whoever had intercepted the letter, utterly unbound by conventions, for as long as she needed.

Which, as it turned out, was a long time.
