Hello everyone!

Well, Patreon has screwed up again: more than the usual number of pledges have been declined this month, and I don't seem to be the only one either - the whole site appears impacted. From my understanding this is because Patreon is now billing from the UK, meaning that some patrons are having their pledges flagged as suspicious (international charge) and declined by their banks.

This is naturally all Patreon's fault, and you shouldn't have to do this, but I'd appreciate if you would check to see if your pledge went through, and, if it didn't, either check with the bank to see if it was declined and try to clear it if so, or update your payment info and switch to a debit card.

Here's a link on how to update your payment info:
https://patreon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203913769-How-do-I-update-my-payment-information-

According to patreon's own announcement, they're continuing to "retry payments" so I assume they're bashing their heads against your banks who are desperately trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

While some people made it out rather fine, it appears the impact it's had on me (as you can see above) accounts for roughly 2/3 of my patrons not going through, which is rather devastating as I've come to rely on this platform to, in due part, pay bills. Effectively, it sets me back to the position I was in about a full year ago, which is rather harsh. Your backing is the only reason I could get the last project out the door when I did, but now I'm facing the possibility of having to ramp up my regular job again which means less time to produce things here.

At any rate, sorry to bother you about this, and thank you, as always, for your continued support and all of your kind words. Neither of us should have to deal with bullshit like this, but companies care very little about us average people in the end I guess.

All the best, and be excellent to each other!

Supposedly, most people affected pay via Credit Card. Most PayPal users have not been affected. Also, try changing over your payment method to something else, delete the old one and recreate it. Then switch back. That is also supposed to be a workaround.

My bank called me yesterday about fraudulent activity. I saw it was Patreon and ok'd it, but it's the first time they've ever asked about Patreon payments

Just had verify and retry. Worked for me there.

As Ravenpoe121 said, my bank flagged patreon for suspicious activity. I am willing to bet this was nothing to do with patreon doing anything wrong, but kids paying with parents' credit cards and the parents reporting patreon because they had no idea what was going on. I feel bad for patreon as a company, I don't think it's their fault.

I'm in Canada and it seemed to go through fine.

My bank flagged the Patreon charge as a suspicious foreign transaction. It took a while to get it approved. It's worth noting that Patreon has not sent me any notice about the transaction problems, just you and a few other creators.

I'd like to believe so as well, Ziff, but sadly it seems it's on them this time. They've moved where they are billing from to the UK, reportedly, which is why the new international transaction suddenly isn't going through even if people have been subbed for months to the same creator - and they didn't see it fit to properly tell creators or backers about this ahead of time. Meanwhile, certain banks are having an, understandably, paranoid reaction to it. It's a shame much of the work ends up on patrons to try to solve on their own in order to give their platform money.

so it wasnt just me!
