Update to Billing (Patreon)

I have activated the new billing option. Here's the official information from Patreon:

You’re charged when you join and monthly on that same date, just like any typical subscription. You can see your next charge date at checkout and in your Active Memberships tab.

Now I'll clarify what all of that means in understandable terms. Before the change, Patreon charged Patrons on their first donation and then again on the first day of every month. This meant you could get charged twice in quick succession if you donated near the end of the month and then got charged again on the first for the proceeding month.

Since I have activated the new option, that will no longer happen. Instead you will be charged again on the same day as your first donation for proceeding months that you stay subscribed. Basically if you donate on the 10th, you will be charged again on the 10th next month and every month after that you stay subscribed. It functions similarly to other subscription based sites like Twitch now.

To my understanding you should still have full access to all Patreon content (within your tier) while you are subscribed. If you cancel, you lose access to Patreon content one month after your previous donation. Before the change you would lose access at the end of the month, even if a full month had not passed since your last donation.

Existing Patrons can ignore mostly all of this. You will continue to be billed on the first day of every month with no change. If you cancel and resubscribe, you will be put on the new system.

I'm in favor of this change which is why I have activated it. It should have been like this to begin with IMO. Anyways, I just wanted to inform you all of the change now instead of waiting for the usual news post. That will still happen around the 15th. Thanks for reading!
