The next update for GnB will bring a main quest update, some new characters, at least 1 new scene, a shop and items, some new locations, some minor gameplay adjustments. Beyond those I’ll be working on jobs, side quests, the battle system, and the gallery in that order. Some of those might not make it in this update. There’s a few other minor things here and there as well like the encounter rework. You probably won’t notice any difference on that one in particular, but I rewrote the code to support the addition of combat encounters when they’re ready.

Jobs will be simple for this release. The more in depth jobs will be in a future release where I can spend more time on them. For now you’ll mainly just be spending battery points to do jobs and gain credits in return. Some of the other jobs I have planned will have scenes and maybe more. Stats will be tied to how much you can earn from jobs. At least one of the ways to raise stats should be in this release.

I want the combat to be fairly simple and similar to Celestial Memoir’s combat that had a sort of DnD feel to it. You might have noticed a new item in the preview picture on Discord. That item can be used/consumed to skip a single battle. This way you can avoid most or all battling if you prefer. I’m not sure if combat will make it in this release or not.

So far the development of GnB is going quite well. VNs aren’t my favorite type of games, but developing in Renpy is more enjoyable than RPGMaker. VNs seem to go well with the adult game genre more so than most other types. That makes sense for obvious reasons. GnB is less off-the-rails with the sort of sandbox map system. I personally prefer that over the “press space until a choice shows up” type of VNs. Hopefully you all will enjoy this game until I can return to SC.
