I very much agree that learning Japanese is very difficult. It took me 2 months of intensive study, then probably 9-12 months of speaking and studying everyday to get to where I had a bit of comfort in everyday situations. But I didn't really feel fluent until I had lived there 2 years then went home and studied at University for 2 years and then went to work in Tokyo. And now I've lost much of my ability again.
