Just want to say, Japan isn't the only place talking up their delicious water before they make it into booze. When you get the opportunity for a trip back to the states and have the time to parachute into Tennessee, the Jack Daniel's tour will talk up their spring water as well. Worth mentioning that literally every drop of the stuff is made at that distillery, and I've imbibed a few more liters of the stuff than I'd care to admit, but heeyyyy, it's some limestonesomethinerother filtered super delicious spring water mixed with a mash of decaying corn stuff + sitting for a few years in charred wood barrels = nectar of the gods whiskey. And no, of course I haven't tasted some of it tonight! I've just guzzled a couple rocks glasses of it. Edit: dumb side note, just want to gush over the inclusion of the 鹿威し at the end and now I have to watch Kill Bill again.

Hi Kyde&Eric! I really enjoyed you visit to Kobe. I never made it to Kobe when I was there but it sure looks like a great place to visit. I especially liked the meal you had with the Chef and his mother. I think even though it was a lot of money, it was an experience you will never forget! Several years ago my friend and I drove to Chicago from here in Alberta and while there went to a Chicago style "Chop Shop", I think it is called. The food and service was absolutely out of this world! It was expensive too, especially as it was in American dollars, but you know, it was a spurge and I still think about it from time to time. If we had not went, we would have missed out on an amazing experience! Something very similar to what you both enjoyed. If I ever get back to Japan, Kobe will be on the itinerary for sure! Thank you for showing me some of it's splendors:-)

Oh yea, you know, I've heard that about Jack Daniels too. It's just so prolific to hear about the "pure water" in different parts of Japan it's almost a meme at this point haha. btw, I totally didn't know the kanji for 鹿威し before hahaha. Very good kanji for that. -E

Glad you enjoyed it, Larry! I'd honestly put Kobe fairly high on the list of places to explore for people on their second, third (or more) visit to Japan. Maybe not Japan 101, but easily 102. Took us far too long to get down there to explore, that's for sure. -E
