Today we are going to look into the brief history of Western video creators in Japan, The formation of the Japan Vlog community or Jvlog community and most importantly what does the future hold for content creators in Japan. J-vlogs, or Japan Vlogs, started to appear on YouTube in 2006 and were primarily used by expats to share their experiences in Japan with people back home. This video will cover everything from the Youtube Tokyo hanami up until now. In fact, by 2016 between google advertising, patreon and paypal donations some Japan youtubers were making more at their “hobby” than they were making at their day job.
