Your comment about decision fatigue is so true. It really does start to wear on you, I think, when you’re far from home or whatever “normal life” is.

I feel like I'm just now starting to recover from it, haha. On a micro level I get that same feeling from editing video. It's not as heavy but it's a series of hundreds of tiny decisions being made over a period of a few hours at a time, it really wipes me out sometimes. But I mean, considering, it's a good problem to have. -E

The nutjob comment got me thinking/concerned. Do you guys get recognized on the street much and do you take any precautions to keep the internet creepers away? I ask because my channel recently doubled its subscribers this past month and now I'm around where you guys are. I'm thrilled about it of course, BUT with all that came an army of trolls, spammers and psychotic comments and I'm wondering if maybe I should be doing something to protect myself. Any advice?

Congrats on your channel growing! I checked it out, I love the concept of a series just eating weird fruit. Good work on eating that lemon, hahahaha. People do say hi to us on the street, but not like an overwhelming amount. If all our subscribers were from our local area it'd probably happen more but as it's a global audience it's makes chance encounters rare. We've never once had a bad chance meeting and have actually met up with quite a few people when they visit Tokyo and it's always been fun. Comments are well....it can be emotionally tolling when you get a thousand people a week picking on even something small. I had to take the Youtube manager off my phone so I wouldn't get notifications all the time just to read someone writing something nasty about us. Everyone tells you "just ignore those people" but until you are the target of thousands of crummy comments you don't actually understand what it's like. So if you start feeling like it's hard to cope with negativity of strangers don't be afraid to disconnect from it. I found a compromise by addressing comments all at once a few times a week rather than constantly on my phone and it's working so far. Oh, to be clear...we get lots of positive comments too, it's not all negative, haha. Be careful who (if anyone) you share your mailing address with. I think that's obvious, but it can be hard to tell people enthusiastic about your content that they can't mail something to you when they just want to share part of their world. But you never know who they are despite them perhaps feeling as if they know you. I could talk about this subject for hours, it's such an interesting side effect of making videos, haha. If you have any specific questions feel free to message us directly. Oh, I chose to respond here rather than a discussion video as I feel like it's a really specific question and I'm not sure how many people would be interested in hearing me drone on about it, hahaha. -Eric
