Went to Slovenia this past summer and it was awesome! Very green country, cheap, beautiful sights, and everyone speaks English. One of my favorite countries in Europe and seriously underrated/overlooked.

Prag is unfortunately not as cheap as it used to be, the prices have gotten extremely close to the European city average, that said, it is still a really awesome looking city. Iceland is comparatively to the rest of Europe insanely expensive. Do to a huge increase of tourists who rent cars and drive around the island, the prices of rentals is more expensive than other cities in Europe. Also you can't just park on the side of the roads and sleep anywhere anymore, also there seems to be a large increase in "no shitting" signs all over the place. Of course tourism will only get worse. It also takes about 7+ days to drive around the island if you want to see things. Berlin is cheap, it also has more of a grungy feel to it compared to other European cities, but may be a good base. There is such a thing as a Euro Rail pass. It does not work quite like the JR Pass, but the way it works makes it even more affordable than it already is. You may want to look into it as this could really save you quite a bit in transportation. I really don't think you can go to Europe without going to Paris, Munich, Rome, and London but those are also probably the most expensive cities... Have you ever thought about couch surfing?

This is something we have heard over and over. It's very high on our list. Thanks! -E

Well, if I can't just poo anywhere I want then Iceland is out. Hahahaha, but no really, I've heard the huge jump in tourism has had an effect on Iceland. I still really want to see it, maybe we can budget it in if we offset it by staying somewhere super cheap during other times. We may also save Iceland for another time. I'm happily surprised to hear Berlin is so cheap! I was worried we might be skilling Germany all together due to cost, but maybe we will get some time to explore it a bit! I don't suspect the Eurorail pass will work for our weird schedule, but I'll look into it for sure. I don't know if we will make it to Paris, Munich and London this time, but I hope to visit Rome. I think we are going to focus our trip on eastern parts of Europe, but we'll see where we land. We have couch surfed in the past (hosted too!) but this time we plan to stay in certain cities for weeks at a time and require our own quite area to work so I don't think it'll work this time. Thanks for all the insight! -Eric
