Hi there! In this week's bonus video, we're exploring the mystery of the Ellen DeGeneres Variety Show -- a program that was filmed but never broadcast in the late 90s. We're also looking at how Ellen's comedy career was nearly derailed by, of all things, CATS. Yes, the musical. Plus ... Ellen is apparently related to Madonna??? Lisa Kudrow is here to explain it all.

Oh and we just added a Los Angeles appearance to my book tour! Details at gaysitcoms.com.

Hey Matt! laughed at the Goulet "Memory" moment. But, did you watch ALL of that Robert Goulet/Carson video??? because the next guest Johnny brings out recites a homophobic cowboy poem!!! seriously!!! was surprised you didnt have a comment about that if you had seen it.

sure, there's probably an argument that I read too much into that poem. but, I'm not so sure... what do you think??

While the 1st poem was odd, the 2nd poet was an excellent Lunatic Fringe poet. Funny as fuck. Starts at approx 23 mins for 2 mins. Gotta watch him

Matt, believe it or not, I'm really excited about what you have to say about "My Mother, the Car". I was 5 years old when it was on and I loved it. I was so mad at NBC when they cancelled it. Looking back as an adult now, I know how silly it was. I still think of it fondly, however. It was exactly the thing for my 5 year old brain. :-)
