Oh hello! In this week's bonus video, I'm tackling what's always been a bit of a mystery to me: Why is George Takei such a frequent guest on the Howard Stern Show? As it turns out, George's partnership with the shock jock goes beyond just occasional guest spots -- Stern actually help boost George's career in a way nobody expected thanks to a little audio clip that turned into a catch phrase. Still, it took a while for Brad (George's husband) to get used to the attention and the rather explicit conversations on the show. I've gathered a few highlights for you here... and I have a few quick updates on my book tour, as well as the story of how our apartment briefly flooded this week.

Also! I'll be hanging out in a livestream over on Twitch again this afternoon -- join me at 12 noon pacific at http://twitch.tv/mattbaume

My dad was a HUGE Howard Stern fan back in the day, which led to me knowing George Takei as "My favorite Howard Stern Regular" before finding out he was an actor as well.

Zardogs! Zardogs!

1. Life long Takei fan, never cared much for Stern, but I knew he was on there often. I did not know that's where the "Oh my" came from. I did remember Stern being totally fine with him being gay which I thought was cool. 2. Been waiting for the Audio book! Stopped the vide to pre-order. Pity you can't sign it, but I would never get around to reading it if it was in print form. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm pretty sure that George Takei was instrumental in one of my favorite radio personalities, Jason Ellis, coming to terms with and eventually coming out as bisexual

1) Matt, glad your possessions and home are OK despite the flooding. 2) "It's Elementary" seemed to almost kill PBS in Idaho, moreso than 'Tales from the City.' 3) "The Puppy Episode" was very important to me, though may have been a piece of influencing media that pushed me to remain confused about who I was/am. :)

Ohhh I'd forgotten about It's Elementary! I've got to add that to my list to look into.

Watching this *after* the episode premiere, finally pre-ordered my copy of the book today. Hope you'll come to the LA area, or somewhere socal 💗

Yay thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it. And yes, we're working on lining up an LA stop on the tour right now! It depends on a lot of logistics, but I really really want to make it happen.

BIG Howard Stern fan here. Howard LOVES George. His whole fanbase loves George. He's GEORGE! George was Howard's announcer when Howard moved to Sirius. The crew was very close to honoring him by all dressing up in Star Trek uniforms when he came in! All George's stories on the show rule. I'm so glad we still have him around.
