Episode 3 of my radio show features songs in the general theme of murder (so obviously you can see why these are inspiring!). I hesitate to say the episode is murder ballads, since they aren't technically all ballads, and there's a whole history to that particular style of songwriting that is very interesting and maybe something to cover at a later date. Anyway, hope y'all have fun listening.

Track list:

  • "For My Upstairs Neighbor (Mums the Word)" – El-P
  • "I Saw Your Mommy" – Suicidal Tendencies
  • "She Got Arrested" – The Interruptors
  • "99 to Life" – Social Distortion
  • "Chloroform Girl" – Polkadot Cadaver
  • "I Hold Your Hand in Mine" – Tim Timebomb
  • "Mainlining Murder" – Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards
  • "History's Stranglers" – The Bronx
  • "Die My Bride" – Murderdolls
  • "Shallow Grave" – A Pale Horse Named Death
  • "Try to Disappear" – Baroness
  • "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" – Thou

OK Cam you definitely get an award for this one. This show is a hoot nanny where even the night owls have to take a break. Hilarious what great fun and I thought it was only the girls I went out with that like to kill me.!?!? Thank you so much for knowing what you know and sharing it with us !!

I have always said if I ever win the lottery, I would pay to have an album of nothing but murder ballads created. Mostly old country but a lot of folk songs too.

Might I recommend this album by Stephanie Nilles? https://stephanienilles.bandcamp.com/album/uncle-stephanies-murder-ballads-for-kids

Also Suicidal Tendencies will never be metal to me. This song was introduced to me at the same time as Dead Kennedys and Black Flag
