Welcome & FAQ (Patreon)
Content
Welcome to our Patreon, Family. We're so glad you could make it. If you're new around these parts, we realize you may have a few questions. So sit right down, and we'll cover a few of the ones we get most often.
First of all, PLEASE READ YOUR OGoA EMAILS FROM PATREON.
This is the only way we have to communicate with you about your benefits. When we post a new Patron-exclusive episode or announce dates for a live storytelling event on Discord, you will receive an email notification from Patreon. For those whose tiers include physical rewards, we also post important information about shipping (reminders to update your address, etc.) Emails from Patreon are not spam. It's a good idea to add the domain patreon.com to your email whitelist, or if that option isn't available, add bingo@patreon.com to your contacts to help ensure you receive the latest updates.
Where do I find Build Mama a Coffin / Door Under the Floor / Blacked Mouthed Dog / etc?
TLDR: Browse the tag list at the top of our feed at patreon.com/oldgodsofappalachia.
Whether you're looking for the latest ad-free episode or digital rewards like wallpapers, we know Patreon doesn't always make it easy to find the content you're looking for. The only way that Patreon gives us of organizing content currently is by using tags. For example, every Build Mama a Coffin episode is tagged "Build Mama a Coffin." You can browse through the tags from our feed at patreon.com/oldgodsofappalachia.
Another way to find your tier-specific rewards is to filter posts on this page by your tier.
Where do I find my tier discount code for the OGoA merch shop?
Your discount code was included in the welcome email sent to you when you signed up. You can also find it in posted under the "FAQ" tag in the tag list at the top of our feed at patreon.com/oldgodsofappalachia.
Do I have to use the Patreon website or app to listen to ad-free episodes / Patron-exclusive episodes?
No. You can listen to episodes we post to Patreon in a podcast app of your choice using your private RSS link. Here are some more specific instructions for adding this link to a podcast app. You can also visit this Patreon help page to learn more about using RSS links.
How do I find my private RSS link?
Click on the My Membership tab on our Patreon page.
I'm having trouble with my private RSS link. Can you help?
TLDR: The short answer is no. Here is the link to Patreon's Help page about using the RSS link.
Please reach out to the developers of your app and/or Patreon user support to resolve these issues. There are many podcast apps for both iPhone and Android, and we can't make ourselves familiar with them all. We don't have any control over either the private RSS links that Patreon generates, or apps that other people create. Your best bet is going to be reaching out directly to those folks for assistance.
When do I receive my care package?
TLDR: 2 calendar months for US, 3 for international.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO UPDATE YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS. Patreon does not share your billing address with us, so you need to be sure you've shared your shipping address with us, and that you keep it up to date if you move. This link explains how to do that.
We ship a care package to US residents with a monthly subscription once they have been subscribed for 2 calendar months (3 months for international packages due to shipping costs). Annual subscribers will receive their package when we ship the next batch.
We do not ship care packages daily. We ship out a batch of care packages once a month. Please do not expect your care package to ship on your exact renewal date. This does not mean everyone gets a care package every month. As described in your tier rewards, you get a (one) care package. Currently everyone subscribed at a care package tier gets one per year.
Due to the increasing cost of international shipping, packages will be shipped to international residents who pledge monthly when they have been subscribed for 3 months for $15 and $20 supporters, and 2 months for upper tier supporters.
A month = a calendar month, not a payment. It takes time to assemble and mail care packages. Please don't message us asking where your package is the day after your second payment is processed by Patreon (yes, it's happened).
How do I claim my once-yearly custom audio recording (Cameo-style)?
Once you have been billed at a tier that includes this reward for 3 months, please send us a message through Patreon. Please remember that recording material must be approved by OGoA, and requested at least one month in advance, so if you want a recording for your mom's birthday or your cousin's wedding, be sure to get in touch in a timely fashion, Family.
How do I claim my in-show side character named for (or by) me?
Once you have been billed at the tier that includes this reward for 4 months, please send us a message through Patreon. Note that it may take some time to find the right place to work in your character name (or if you hit us up between seasons, you may have to wait a bit), so please be patient. Names must be approved by Steve and Cam and are subject to alteration. (It probably goes without saying, but we’re not going to approve silly names like Hillbilly McBoatface. Seriously.)
How do I connect to the Old Gods of Appalachia Discord server?
