Family, we are tickled to death that y'all just blew through the stretch goal that brings Cam and Steve in to create detailed locations for the new expansion of the TTRPG. The next stretch goal will feature audio goodies including voice work from that crafty charcoal-suited devil himself, the voice of the Railroad Man, Yuri Lowenthal!

You can back it today at mymcg.info/ogoa-deeper-still.

Hey there, family. I truthfully hate to post this because I am a long time patron and GM for an OGoA TTRPG, and I'm a huge fan of all the stories produced. But please, why are there such long gaps between productions? There are months, literally months that go by where I feel that my subscription is wasted because the only posts are updates on live shows, merch drops, and information on the Table Top. I really want to keep supporting the group, but I've felt like it's not worth it for about 8 months, now. Again, I still love this community. But I feel like we're being overlooked for other endeavors. Yours truly, Jack

Patreon exclusive episodes are posted monthly. That is what is promised when you sign up at the $10 level or above. We have always taken a few months off between seasons, from the beginning. It may come as a surprise, but planning twenty episode seasons takes time. Just like a tv show, we take a hiatus between them (and not years, as many tv shows do currently). We also have been on tour, which is not a vacation but a lot of work. If you don’t feel our work is worth your money, family, then we understand that and you are of course free to unsubscribe between seasons. No hard feelings. But we are also not machines. We are human beings who need time to rest and see our families and friends. Some of y’all seem to think if we don’t post new episodes nonstop, we’re not working. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Neither Steve nor I have had a vacation in two years.

In case you've missed some posts, since season 4 ended on May 29 (not 8 months ago), we have posted the following Patreon exclusives, as promised. Steve Reads Episode 15 - May 31 Steve Reads Episode 16 - May 31 Steve Reads Episode 16 - June 30 Strangers - July 8 The Ties That Bind - July 30 Finishing School - August 30 Forces of Darkness: An Interview with Tracey Johnston-Crum and Betsy Puckett - August 30 As you can see, we have in fact posted several stories and other posts that are not, in fact, about the TTRPG or the live show. (We haven't posted a new merch drop in ages.) September's exclusive story will come at the end of the month, as promised.

Thanks for the reply. I am in the $15 a month tier. I am not asking you or yours to be machines or generate content that is less than your standard simply because of "timely" constraints. I also understand needing creative breaks. I want to support your work and will continue to do so (I paid hundreds of dollars for the full package of TTRPG content. I get that's a drop in the bucket, but still.) I don't ask for "non-stop" posting. I think what I might be asking for, as I say this, is more information on when new content is coming. Please, I don't mean these messages as an affront or an attack. I am expressing my feelings as a loyal follower. Yours, Jack

If you read over your tier benefits, they say clearly that Patreon exclusive content is posted on the 30th of the month (29th in February). At the end of season 4, we announced that the new season would begin on October 31. We reiterated that in our "Quick Check-in Post with Steve and Cam" post on the 12th of this month. We also state in the FAQ here on Patreon, on our website, and on our Discord that, during the regular season, those episodes are posted every other Thursday, a schedule we've stuck to since season 2. The date season 5 begins is also included in the FAQ. We've done everything we can to communicate to folks when we publish.

Honestly, I don't want to fight, and I don't like to get into semantics. But I'll repeat from my above comment, "I've felt like it's not worth it for about 8 months, now." I did not accuse anyone of the team at OGoA of not posting for more than half-a-year. I am voicing concern as, once again, a longtime patron for the show, a vocal fan who has shared the good stories and words of OGoA, and your supporters. I'm starting to feel like this is an argument. That is not my intention.

Would you like a refund? Patreon will only allow us to refund the last 90 days of payments, but I'd be happy to do so. I'm not really sure what else to offer you? We've done all we can to communicate our publication schedule short of individually emailing you (which we cannot do), and we are working as hard as we possibly can. I'm not sure what more you would like as a response?

Jack Alkire

(This is why I hate text conversations) I feel like there is a lot of syntaxes, emotion, and emphasis that is lost because of text messages. I would like to reiterate, emphatically, that I truly love and support the work that you do. That is the first message I want to convey. That is the main message that should be conveyed. I'm sorry if that was lost in translation. Second, I am not accusing nor am I asking for quality to be reduced or compromised. As a mid-high level tier patron, I am asking for a little more communication about updates. Perhaps this is Patreon's fault for pushing notifications about certain content. Perhaps this is because SEO or titled podcasts are not perfectly palatable. Perhaps this is because we, listeners, look for S:x E:y to discern new content. Perhaps there are many things that break this form of communication. I did my masters degree work in English Education. I was a linguist in the US Navy. I am currently a local news reporter. I understand that words have meaning. Again: I do not want to convey a negative feeling towards you and yours. I do not want a refund. I do not want content to stop. I am requesting clearer communication about expectations, please. Yours, Jack

It's possible that you've missed messages from Patreon. We have to periodically check the site manually because we know that sometimes, for whatever reason, our notifications slip through the cracks. Or perhaps something escaped your notice for some other reason. Just maybe, though, you should also consider how your message comes across to the two people who bust their asses to create this show. That's all I got, family. It's almost 11pm our time, and instead of spending time with my family, I've been working, because one of our patrons posted a complaint and yes, we do in fact care.

May the night find you well. I will respond to your latest comment either tomorrow or in the coming days. Jack
