Mochi Moshi Dev Log #23: This is the January One (Patreon)

Hello Mochi Moshi supporters! Thank you again for supporting me for another month!
Things seem to be moving well on the writing front and honestly, I couldn't be happier.

Mochi Mondays / Mochi Thursdays

This was a concept that my co-writer came up with to help her write the story more consistently by dedicating time to it every Thursday! I tried to do the same by writing every Monday but found it was easier to write more sporadically instead of on a single date. We both write at our own pace though! Her progress is so much more drawn out by laying out multiple outlines in a route rather than going into it linearly like I do. This means that she basically writes five nodes at the same time at different levels and I write one. But this also means that I finish one node in a day while she works at it in larger chunks! Different paces and methods but we both make fantastic work!

I've managed to complete two nodes this month and look forward to doing as much, or more than this month. The most I've managed to do in a month is five, which is still my record. This number is difficult though, especially since my job involves a lot of creative writing now. Excuses excuses but at the same time, I'm happy at the amount of work I've done! I need another pass at it but the node I just finished was one using a very horny concept that I can only really call a "belly bra." It really illustrated how stupid but creative Kazumi is.

The Stupidity of Kazumi

Now it might be unfair to call her dumb, but what she really is is carefree and fun loving. A lot of the times I write her I approach her with the same excitement that I want her to exude. She's someone who is bratty, teasing, funny, bubbly, energetic, loving of herself and others, flirty with just a sprinkle of innocent perversion. Just a concoction of pink bubbly slime that sloshes around in her brain without her just being a completely ditzy blonde girl. I hope her personality comes though well!

This is probably the most stupid interaction I'll write for Mochi Moshi, and it came out of an idea I had on accident. (K = Kazumi, P = Player) 

P-kun and You!

The player character is funny because I write them to be very dry and deadpan but it adds a lot of brevity to Kazumi. I always write the two of them to play off of each other as if they've been friends for the longest time, as well as having some light flirting. There's an obvious history between the player and Kazumi when coming into it, this isn't some "I asked you for help but I don't know who you are" type deal. You're automatically assumed from the start that you're friends with Kazumi and that you're going to help her. I know a lot of visual novels take a while to get to that part but I really wanted to have people jump in and feel familiar, or at least get familiar, with Kazumi rather quickly. 

P-kun is also how my co-writer refers to them and I think that's cute. Very similar to how idol/management gacha games refer to the player as P-kun in fanart. Only difference is that I am automatically giving you a voice, I just hope that you can find it to agree with them. Although if you can't, they are their own person with as much personality as Kazumi at this point and I just hope you enjoy those two together. Maybe at some point I can give them a canonical name for those of you who can't find it to think of them as yourself. I guess we'll have to see how everyone thinks about them!

Thank you everyone for your continued support! I hope this was a fun insight on how me and my co-writer are handling this project. 2023 is going to be fantastic for the both of us and I hope you all kick as much ass as I plan on doing! Thank you again and honestly treat yourself to something nice!
