To the beginning of another! So as you all know the prototype has been released! If you do not have access to the prototype either message me on this site or look at the end of this dev log for more information!

This is going to be a shorter one as I outline some specific things and then detail "What's Next?"

 

First of all-- This is basically the main meat of the game. 90% of your reading of Mochi Moshi will be done on this txting screen. All of the conversations that the player character has with Kazumi is done through txt messaging. To those of you who have read the prototype, you might have noticed the player character are their own person and at first we were trying to figure out how to write them into a more generic character but eventually just opened up and made the two of them bicker more, flirt more and even love. It's not that we wanted to take agency away from the character, but the story we're telling through Mochi Moshi is that of which takes place using 3 choices through the whole game and then telling a story based on that. By making a true "Every choice you make matters," game, I think you'll be way more satisfied with Mochi Moshi. So no-- right now there won't be anyway to choose what text messages you can send Kazumi because as it's written, the quips that she has reference previous weeks so essentially any and all text in the game matters for some reason.

Now that the prototype is out, I'm going to be taking a break from working on Mochi Moshi until about June 18th, where I'll start my true research into the creation of the game. I need a break after cramming this prototype together as well as consolidating all of my written ideas into a visual guide/concept art. It took way too much work for such a little time while also working on personal art. If you noticed my Yumian drawing had Kazumi in it, you can tell I was going a little stir crazy working on all this the past few weeks.

Next phase of development is actually creating the work environment and doing research into how exactly I can create the meat of the game using the guides I've made. All asset creation now will be pumped into making the UI function and look 1:1 with design documents.
