It's like Sun Tzu said: "Know your enemy and know yourself, and find no fear for 100 battles" Learn your enemy's weakness, and exploit it to your advantage...

This also explains why Lugner and the other demons dismissed Fern as a non-threat to them. Before meeting Frieren, she already is good at concealing her mana, combine that with Frieren’s teaching, she will definitely trick demons into thinking she’s that weak.

A bit of my thought process following this episode; IMO, the best part about this is that Frieren says the suppression of her mana is tiring, so just by do it she is doing a mild form of training (Also would explain why she sleeps so much and can get sloppy/slovenly in safer areas, she's actually training 24/7). She trains when she learns new spells also, and any time she uses magic outside of that mana suppression... Which means when she uses magic for a spell or learning one, and is still suppressing her mana, she is technically double dipping in training. While the mana suppression would be a lower training yield/exercise but just doing it at all times, as a rough analogy; it's like jogging with weighted clothes that you also wear 24/7, vs jogging/living without. And because she suppresses passively, even while she sleeps - this means she has the 1000+ years of constant mana training. And although Flamme is still considered an immensely powerful mage, showed by her showing her mana strength as like a 10-foot radius around her in the episode, she was still human... and Frieren's mana volume in this episode has Aura, who's still like 20feet away from Frieren, being already halfway inside Frieren's mana radius. And I'm assuming that that's not even the full extent of her mana, she just showed enough to utterly crush and despair Aura (so her will was broken and she could not resist). Given that an even larger amount of mana is shown in the show's OP scenes... So that would have to be Frieren having to unleash her full suppression, maybe against the Demon lord or the Strongest of his Generals, or if the meet an Ancient Elf in the future.. lol. Because of all this I doubt there's any other being in her world that can stand up to Frieren's mana pool, unless there's some kind cheat like "blessing of the goddess" or as I said, they meet an Elf/Demon like much, much older than Frieren. but they'd have to be at LEAST double her age, and be training every waking moment. So to low-ball how old they'd have to be I'd say at least double-triple Frierens age. Maybe the Demon King was one such Being, that's why it took all 4 of the Hero's Party to fight him, given that he was around & ordering Extremely powerful Demons BELOW HIM IN POWER to do the slaughter of the Elves, even long before Flamme the Legendary Mage was born. Also, I personally believe Frieren having "~been in trouble if you'd tried to overwhelm me with numbers" - is just referring to how Himmel would have chastised her for destroying the corpses of the controlled dead, like how he did the last time she battled Aura with the Hero's party... And also why Aura would have escaped the first time. like in a game, if they were focused on the "mobs" so the "Boss" got away... She's also going on a journey to try see the souls of him and her master in this world's version of heaven after all.... So she wouldn't want to disrespect the dead bodies, and would want to return them to the humans for closure and burial rights.
