Something the anime omits, mages use combat stimulants, drugging themselves, to to calm fear and keep up performance and concentration. Which seems like a reference to "Panzerschokolade" ("Tank chocolate"), which is a nickname for a Methamphetamine that the German armed forces used back in WWII for the same reasons. Furthermore Tanya's Type-95 doesn't work in the way that she has to pray to be granted power, it's the other way around. Whenever she uses it's power, Being X's influence is invading her mind and forcing her to pray regardless of her will, pumping her full of euphoria and pleasure, basically trying to brainwash her into getting addicted to praying. That's why she usually carries 2 computation Jewels, one Type-97 like everyone else on her platoon for general use and her Type-95 for emergencies/when she has to bring out the big guns. So the reason she is grinning and laughing like a madman in battle isn't just because she is crazy and really enjoys it, it's in large parts because she is drugged up and high as a kite. The Ending is sung by Tanya's VA Aoi Yūki, you might recall her voice as Kumoko from "I'm a Spider so what?", where she also sang the endings, or Clementine from Overlord. (There are many more like Tsuyu from MHA, but those two feel the closest to Tanya's voice, with that certain level of craziness and desperation in it). The Illustrations in the Ending are illustrations/covers from the Light Novels.
