So apparently a lot more was supposed to happen when he went to teach the kids. I guess thats why they're starting out like this, since at the end of episode 24, he left to return home. But now they're showing what else he did while he was at the academy, which is nice. Also a good start to season 2, woo!

Also IIRC, some of the first couple of episodes were supposed to happen mid-S1 actually, but got skipped (thanks production committee, for not telling if they gonna get S2 or nah...)

I was expecting that they adapt the 3-5 episodes of content they scipped in S1. But i thought that they might do it more in retrospect. It is not really that important after all and make the Kids Arc parrallel to the skipped content seems to work fine.

did they not do the extra content in the 5 OVAs? I watched all 5 and it was all there I thought?

The OVAs were original Stories as far as i know

I've only watched the first 2 OVAs so far. but both were complete anime only filler content
